We left the apartment at 9:00 AM – two full hours before the official 11:00 AM check-out – so cleaning could start early. The cleaners were already waiting outside. Since the keys are required to re-enter the building, we kept them with us while we spent the remaining time at the nearby waterfront market. Around noon the host phoned, demanding the keys immediately because the next guests (who were arriving two hours before the official 14:00 check-in) had already been waiting 30 minutes. No prior warning had been given about tight turnover or early arrivals, and no solution was offered. The tone was curt and accusatory despite us having vacated the unit hours earlier. After handing over the keys in person, we walked to our allocated basement parking space. We clearly overheard the host instructing security to come down and clamp our wheels. We had already returned the keys and left the apartment empty since morning – the threat felt completely disproportionate. Other objective shortcomings for a listing marketed as “luxury”: - Persistent musty smell in the main bedroom (mentioned in several earlier reviews, still not fixed) - Every plate in the kitchen is chipped - Only a few steak knives provided - No tea, coffee, or sugar supplied - Amount of toilet paper insufficient for the duration of our stay - Advertised “sea views” are in fact canal views only - Main bedroom en-suite had no hot water the entire stay (host advised on arrival that major repairs required to resolve issue) - There is a non-refundable security fee of R75 per person for each access card. The location and the complex itself are excellent – When we return we will gladly book one of the many other apartments here… just never this particular unit again.

NLAbsolutely wonderfully comfortable and spacious AirBnB, with all the comforts of a home! Absolutely loved sitting on the patio, absorbing the peace and watching the occasional bird or kayak floating by on the pretty canal. Also loved the very easy, and very safe, 5-10 minute walk to the lively V&A Waterfront! Also, the communication with the host was brilliant - super friendy and helpful.

the furniture and overall style of the apartment are outdated and really need renovation and modernization to provide a more comfortable and contemporary stay.
