Mai Châu Happy House

Wir waren zum ersten Mal dort und hatten den Kernort Mai Chau bewusst gemieden. Die Lage des Happy House ist wunderschön mit unverbautem Blick auf die umlegenden Berge. Unsere Anreise vetspätete sich wg kurzfristig notwendiger Umbuchung der Busverbindung, was wir über die Booking-App mitteilten. Dennoch schien man bei unserer Ankunft "verschnupft", der Empfang war unterkühlt, vielleicht lag es auch an der Sprachbarriere. Zimmer, Frühstück und a la Carte Essen war prima.

Ein Aber zum Ort: Die Anwohner möchten ihre Produkte im großen Stil verkaufen, weshalb sich ganztägig E-Caddies mit Touristen durch die Sträßchen bewegen. Alles scheint auf starkes Touri-Wachstum ausgelegt zu sein.

The hosts were super nice and helpful. She gave me lots of information about the on-site activities, such as the Thai dance evening and guided tours in the area, which really helped me organise our small getaway trip with my friends visiting all the way from Europe and the US. We all really enjoyed the authentic experience with the locals.

The food was not great.. You have to order in advance if you want meat dishes. We had most of our meals at the homestay due to poor organisation/planning on our side, so after 3 days we were all fed up with the limited choice of vegetarian food. My avocado smoothie was also really bad (sorry... but please do not propose that next time if the avocados aren’t ripe enough). There were insects in some of our rooms too, bees and cockroaches and others. But I guess that’s nature eh! I actually got stung by a bee in the middle of the night with some allergies reaction afterwards though, and now, more than 1 month later, I still have the sting in my back!

Schöne Unterkunft einer sehr liebevollen und bemühten Familie. Es gibt unglaublich leckere und ausreichend, vegetarische Speisen im dazugehörigen Restaurant sowie Fahrräder um die Gegend zu erkunden. Die Zimmer sind gut ausgestattet, gepflegt und sehr sauber.
