"Aangenaam verblijf vlakbij centrum Palermo"

10.0

Vlotte check in, vriendelijke en attente verwelkoming. Heel netjes en ruim appartement. Veilige, rustige buurt.

"Good apartment with a terrace"

8.0

We liked the apartment and it had everything we needed. The apartment is in a quiet area, about a 15-20 minute walk to the very centre of town. There is a nice little private terrace just along the balcony, which we enjoyed for having breakfast, having an afternoon drink, or just relaxing with a book. For eating out in the centre of town in the evening, we'd strongly recommend Retrobottega di Prezzemolo & Vitale, right by Quattro Canti - it has a really nice dining area upstairs, that is easy to miss.

Parking is free, but it is hard to find a place. We got lucky and found a place very close, but even if you are a couple of roads away, we'd recommend grabbing the first place you see. Checking in was a poor experience. We gave the host plenty of notice and reconfirmed an accurate arrival time an hour before our arrival, which the host acknowledged. When we arrived outside the apartment, the host was not there. I had to phone him and he arrived shortly afterwards, but it was hardly a friendly welcome. He appeared flustered and rushed through check-in and clearly wanted to leave as quickly as possible. It left us feeling unwelcome. Our stay was for three nights, but we were only provided with ONE toilet role 😒

"Great location with a super clean apartment with modern appliances."

10.0

The apartment was very clean with modern appliances. The host was very friendly and was there to hand off the keys, he spoke English and gave us directions to the grocery store less than 5 minute walk. The grocery store has cooked meals like BBQ and fries. The city historical sight a leisurely 15 minute walk. We had a very pleasant stay. We would go back in heart beat.

"Rental in Palermo"

7.0

It's visible that the apartment has been recently renovated with new flooring and a couple of decoration items. The shower was great, and we didn't have any issues with the lack of hot water. We had to use the washing machine, and there was plenty of space to hang outside the balcony, typically Italian. Be mindful if the weather is not good. We didn't cook, and neither had breakfast at the apartment, so I'm not sure about the equipment. There are free parking spots around the area, but you might have to be patient. It was a short stay, so we didn't have any issues. The host was friendly, and he greeted us personally during check-in. He would also promptly reply to all of our questions.

We also feel that it should be clear in the ad that the apartment is only a separate part of the house. Regarless the own entrance, there's only a door between the owner's apartment and the rental. We didn't have any issues whatsoever, but we usually don't book properties like this. We were misled by the "the entire place is yours" in the ad. I believe there's another entrance to the owners part of the property, so a lock can be installed from the rental side of the door. I can imagine women travelling alone wouldn't feel comfortable with that door leading to the owners apartment. The breakfast is extremely weak. I'd rather not advertise with breakfast and have those items as complimentary. Coffee pods and tea bags, milk, jams, pluncakes, and 1 can of pineapple.

"Expected better"

7.0

Two large grocery stores nearby

The apartment is actually just a separated part of their own home, divided by a sliding door. The host admitted that they do not have a license for commercial accommodation services. They rent it out secretly (?) — the Booking.com name is not displayed on the doorbell or the apartment door, so it's impossible to find, even though it has been rented out for over a year. Breakfast is not provided — there were only a few packaged biscuits and jam, plus coffee and tea. The explanation was that they don’t have a permit for it. But then why advertise it with breakfast options? I chose the place because of the terrace, but it faces a blank wall and some kind of workshop — morning sounds include power tools. The terrace furniture was splintery. The bedroom furniture was random: a huge wardrobe, musty bedding, and a poorly placed mirror. The kitchen was poorly equipped — for example, there was one huge knife, no tray, and no pasta strainer, but three coffee makers. The neighborhood is typically dirty, smelly, and full of trash. The cathedral is a 20-minute walk, which means 40 minutes round trip, and the area along the way is not nice. Only Italian language TV channels.

"Good"

7.0

We checked in and out late because we were travelling without extra charge. The host was really friendly and polite. The apartment was very spacious, clean and new. Great location. Definitely a great choice for your stay.

The only thing that was unpleasant is that we were surprised that there are two doors to the apartment where other rooms are located and we did not know whether in any time someone can enter. We were left with the impression from the description of the apartment that it will be all for us.
