Socialtel Maderas - formerly Selina Maderas

I stayed at this hotel over a month ago. I booked it through Hotels.com and paid for it on the platform. However, when I arrived, the hotel claimed they had no record of my payment. They mentioned something about it not appearing in their system. Trying to be cooperative, I paid again with my credit card, even though I presented confirmation of my prior payment. I was assured the issue would be resolved by the end of the night or the next morning at the latest. However, when it still wasn’t resolved by the time I had to leave, I was promised I would receive a refund one way or another. It’s now been five weeks, and the hotel refuses to refund my money. Initially, I was told the refund had been processed but would take time due to “international bank transfer rules.” In later correspondence, the hotel stopped mentioning the refund altogether. Now, they have completely stopped responding. I want to warn everyone about this fraudulent behavior. The hotel clearly knows I am owed a refund and has even admitted it, yet I have received nothing. Don’t make the mistake of trying to be accommodating and falling for this scam. Additionally, Hotels.com has been unhelpful after dozens of emails, simply directing me back to the hotel as the responsible party.

Selena was a really nics experience. Make sure you ask for fresh towels and to clean your room. Very nice staff.

They should really rebrand into more of a surfing hostel. It’s located just a quick walk to a main surfing beach, so if you want to surf and be in nature it’s a good place to be. It has the opportunity to be good, because the rooms are nice enough, and the location is good if it’s what you want, but it’s like all the rest of the Selina’s and a little dead these days.

When I spoke to the staff they were nice but they didn’t really do anything to help make my experience there. I didn’t like how the door codes are so simple/ probably never changed. That lacked security in my eyes. The kitchen is very barebones, and could use more items in it if they had people coming to stay.

The pool and the music.

There was an overwhelming smell of mould. Even in the pool. It was everywhere. The kitchen needs a good bleaching and bowls, forks, teaspoons adding.

we did check in at 7pm and we were given our room, been downgraded, but equally paid the same price. if we asked why we can't have our booked teepee tent (that was the only reason we did go there as we wanted to have experience). they said tepees are not in the condition to be rented out. after demanding why we haven't received any notification prior or on the check in, they said it's booking as it could be delayed. it was hard to communicate as no one speaks English and you only using Google translator - which was fine. they were finding many excuses, but we reached the agreement they will pay money back and we will go somewhere. road to get in are in terrible condition. paths to the accomodation was so slippery. if you have bags with you that's something fun

Nice pool

Restaurant was partly closed. When it was open, the food wasn’t really good. Very noise rooms. The place was almost empty, but the other guest were placed in a room next to ours.
