The Gilpin Farmhouse, Lake District Getaway - Ridgestone

Spacious, authentic farmhouse with good views. Good location. Nice bedrooms.

Cleanliness of the kitchen. Pans needed washing before use due to food residue. Bathroom- toilet flush didn’t always work and dead flies in the light fitting.

The over bath shower was hot The log burner in the lounge was hot Although the hot tub was small it was easy to use We were given a number to contact if we had issues There was an ironing board, although it was broken Although we had a power cut, the fire kept us warm There were enough dishwasher tablets (6 for 5 days) and some washing-up liquid too A super coffee machine was provided if you bring your own ground coffee One of the beds had a proper divan and mattress but the one that had two mattresses on top of each was too soft.. The four poster was comfortable, but rather soft

The AGA in the kitchen was solid fuel and had not been used for ages There was damp in the kitchen on the left hand side of the cooker wall The sofa was ripped in places and the carpets in the small lounge were torn The bathroom lino had lifted up due to damp floor beneath There were some big cracks in the ceiling in the lounge and the kitchen There were just enough plates and cutlery for one sitting, but these needed washing up every time or if you needed them to serve There were not 6 matching glasses 😢 The loo flush took a bit of getting used to..

The property was as described with a lovely kitchen and nice and secluded apartment from the cows next door. A great base for all of our Lake District adventures

It needed a little TLC in places such as the bathroom

The cottage setting was rural and had lots of open space around it. The cottage was cosy and well equipped. It is in good proximity to some nice pubs and two farm shops which were exceptional.

The garden was unkept and not inviting to sit in or use. The hot tub wasn’t in an attractive location and therefore not used. Sadly there wasn’t a single walk with the dog possible from the cottage although it was surrounded by so much open space and farmland.

Quiet area with beautiful views. Farm House was comfortable and quaint.

Hot tub could have been a little bigger.

The property is in a lovely location and is a stunning cottage. Overall the stay was great and couldn’t complain only just a couple of small things but didn’t ruin our stay.

Couldn’t change the hot tub temperature or get the lights to work, no instructions left for using the hot tub. The utensils in the property for cooking weren’t the cleanest.

Great location - quiet but walking distance to a pub.
