"A peaceful stay to rejuvenate the soul!"

8.0

What an amazing retreat - it is so peaceful and a real gem!

Sadly the property was not cleaned to an acceptable standard, with some basic items missing and after highlighting this to the owners and management team through photos and videos, they were able to rectify the issues immediately. Excellent correspondence from Austin.

"Superb location. Lovely old cottage but in need of an upgrade"

7.0

Superb location. Lovely old "quirky" cottage with a pleasant garden. Comfortable bed. Lovely wooden and stone floors

The interior and the furniture are very tired. It needs a complete redecoration / revamp and it wasn't very clean. Unpleasant smell in tv room and back bedroom. With attention to these matters it would be fantastic. It is currently a bit disappointing and that's a shame given that it's such a great place.

"We enjoyed a relaxing, comfortable stay on the Isle of Wight"

9.0

Lovely old property, peaceful location, good views

Tv area too small, not enough seating. Garden could have had more chairs.

"Great location, but poor property condition and service."

2.0

The location is superb! Can't fault the scenery.

This stay was for my mums 60th birthday surprise. No welcome note or gift for our stay. It's the little extra touches that make it worth your stay and to want to return. Greeted by a rude neighbour which the cottage is attached to yelling "Where do you think you're going!?". The signage when arriving is poor and very difficult to navigate where you are actually staying with no official parking. No meet and greet by any member of staff. The location itself is beautiful with stunning views, however, the cottage has been poorly neglected. The images used for advertising the cottage are very historic and do not replacate the cottage to how it stands today. Images provided by myself show the condition of the cottage today, but do not show cobwebs, badly stained kitchen sink, no light bulbs in certain rooms, stained lampshades, discoloured curtains, stratched/stained bath tub, stained carpets throughout, all white walls with marks and I need of a repaint and many more. I have stayed at Isle Of Wight previously for a birthday occasion at an alternative cottage and the service, accommodation was outstanding but was unfortunately fully booked on this occasion. The cottage was called "Priory Barn" in Freshwater, who provided a birthday hamper and a bottle of wine on arrival for the occasion of our trip. I highly recommend searching this cottage. The management of this cottage seems to be all profiet taking, with little to no money put back in to maintain the property (photos speak for themselves). I would not recommend to fellow friends/family nor be returning myself. It's far from clean, very run down and needs a lot of TLC with a complete furniture revamp. I advise future bookers to search for alternative options for better value for money in Freshwater. I hope this review helps and assists others.
