Beautiful Cottage in Durham with Pool Table

Firstly its very misleading that the pictures advertising the cottage make the place look lovely ! Only until you get through the door do you then find out what it is you have paid a fortune for. Im going to be as honest as I can as we paid over £400 for 4 nights and Im affraid I wouldn't be recommending this to any friends or family any time soon until there are current pictures of the place on here and some redecoring has been done. . The cottage is very tired inside, floors dirty, walls filthy with chunks of plaster missing. Woodwork looks like someone's been picking at it with knives. There's been a leak in the bathroom so there's a big damp patch on the roof, plus plaster missing. Pool table is a lovely idea but only 1 and a half cues, plus not enough space to take shots properly. The kitchen area lacks cups, plates and pans. The cutlery is like child's cutlery and there's no scissors and the fridge has a big dint in the door. Upstairs 2 beds rooms of ok size, minimal furniture, one bedroom door hanging by 1 bottom hinge so take care if shutting it, chips and marks all over the walls, blinds hanging off and no curtains. So when the sun comes up your wide awake ! Careful of the carpets between the rooms upstairs we tripped over them a few times as they are not attached to the carpet grippers! The bathroom is a nice size but the shower is disgusting, there's damp and holes in the sealant, careful not to press too hard on the shower to change temperature as you would bring the whole thing off the wall. No lock on door either. The WiFi was okay, the TV worked when it felt like it. No nice outdoor space to sit in the evening if u wanted to or you could try using the seating left there which looks like it needs burning. I have taken lots of pictures to prove this place isn't as it seems just wish we knew it before we booked.

Pool table unplayable due to its location. Provision of cutlery, pots and glasses not good enough. TV very difficult to operated due to very slow response of the smart TV

The house was exactly what we needed for a weekend getaway with our boys. The beds were comfy. The entire house was spotless. The pool table was a definite bonus.

Good heating system. Owner was helpful when needing help with broken washing machine.

It wasn’t very clean. The shower water was very cold. And shower unit kept falling off the wall. And I was getting bites after sleeping in the bed. I rehashed the bedding and sprayed the mattress with bed bug spray which resulted in the bites reducing significantly. The place needed a good painting too.
