York centre Eco-house Fairfax Corner

The house is spacious with every facility covered, the beds were very comfy (23 - 83 age range). The location is perfect for a stroll to local restaurants & bars or onto the town centre. We all had a great time in York & this property met & exceeded all our expectations, plus the opportunity to have a table tennis tournament at any time is priceless! Highly recommended property by all of us, lovely cafe next door, views of the walls from every window & so many books to peruse, overall excellent 3 night stay.

The location was ok and pretty much what we expected. Having arrived a little early we were able to enter the property

On entering the house it was absolutely bitterly cold with no apparent heating on. We adjusted the radiators, as suggested and they came on for a short while but not enough to warm the place. This was the situation throughout our stay. The TV didn't work, the owner was 'not available' said the telephone call, and there was no option to leave a message. The towels were like sandpaper, much too rough to rub dry my face. The shower over the corner bath had no controls and in order to use the bath one would have been sharing it with an enormous cheese plant! Then the next morning on reading the info book further we found out that as there were top sheets and duvets provided, the duvet covers were NOT changed after every visit!! When was the last time it was changed I wondered and what was the criteria for changing it. That I found disgusting and unhygienic, NOT vaguely eco friendly, and would never have booked the house had I known that was the practice! I have never come across this practice before

Very quirky, everything we needed was there ,a short walk to York Centre ..Bruce the next door neighbour was very friendly and helpful
