Nona lakeside apt at patrician Villa

A great location set in amazing gardens right on the lakeside. It is about a 30 min walk from Bellagio but the peacefulness of the property makes up for any inconvenience. Ida the host was amazing greeting us on arrival and providing lots of helpful information.

Location in San Giovanni was superb. We were in Bellagio - Lake Como, to celebrate the wedding of our niece. This cute apartment is located in a large courtyard styled ‘chateau’ - Villa Trotti’ set within a gated estate comprising a beautiful landscaped tropical garden with private swimming pool. The views over Lake Como are utterly breathtaking. Ida, the lovely lady who looks after the apartment is unique in her kindness and attentiveness. You don’t come across too many like her in the hotel industry. She went out of her way to answer all our questions and ensure our stay in Bellagio and attendance at the wedding went smoothly.

Not a lot. Very comfortable bed and everything in the apartment you need to enjoy your stay. The furniture was basic (IKEA) but adequate. Lovely big bathroom with shower. The steep ladder-way to the mezzanine level single bed might not suit everyone? However I’m guessing younger agile children would absolutely love it though! Also, what suited us best (the remote location in San Giovanni is a 20 minute walk from popular Bellagio along a busy road) might not suit others who want to be right in the hub of things? But for us, it was the best of both worlds! One last comment: make sure your taxi driver has the accurate address (Ida will send you it) to take you to Villa Trotti front gate, otherwise the taxi will drop you in the adjacent church square which is nearby but awkward.

Ina was amazing and super friendly. She explained how to get the most out of the location and how to get around by foot or other means. The villa is very quiet and a smart move to get out of the crowed larger Bellagio space. Fantastic lake views from the gardens. Bonus to have a laundry on site.

Shower space is a bit limited and dated.

The location was quiet and in a superb area. We enjoyed our daily 20 minute stroll to Bellagio along the lake.

It was all very nice. No faults.

We stayed six nights which was just perfect. The apartment is beautifully situated in stately private gardens, no road noise just glorious lake views. The whole set up invites you to slow down, it was amazing to swim in a beautiful, large outdoor pool (I swam twice a day and by luck, had the pool to myself every time!) We also enjoyed swimming in the lake (there is a private spot which is accessed from the gardens) We appreciated being met by Ida and she was very keen to help with any queries.The apartment suited us really well, it has very high ceilings, a spacious bathroom with a great shower. The bed is king size and we appreciated having space to properly unpack. The kitchen is well stocked, we had no difficulty with using the dishwasher and the fridge. For us, it was a bonus being twenty five minutes walk from Bellagio because we escaped the crowds but could still enjoy an evening visit. The wifi was excellent and we had a back up password if required. So many highlights, but drinking a beautiful local wine with an assortment of local cheese and bread on our outside patio was definitely amazing. Once you understand the ferry timetable, it is so easy to reach Villa Carlotta and Villa Balbianello from San Giovanni (no ferry service on a Wednesday so then you would have to go to Bellagio) This is a very special apartment and location, if you stay long enough, you will definitely unwind and discover so many things! I really hope we can return some day.

Amazing location right next to the lake and with direct access from the garden. The garden was fantastic and really nice to spend some time in. The pool was large and really nice to relax in and around. The host was great and communication through whattsapp is really easy. Boat tours launch from nearby that take you in to all of the local larger towns.

Wifi is slow. An alternative was provided, but not much better. Only handwash in the bathroom, some other toileteries would be nice for the price level. For some reason the plugs are different sizes so couldnt use my adapter in all sockets?

The whole place is more a studio than a 1 bed apartment and it needs a redecoration, it is ok but for the cost unfortunately it is pretty poor. Tiny Dishwasher didn’t take the plates or bowls and was useless. Fridge took 2 days to freeze some ice cubes. WIFI very intermittent. Table and chairs were child sized and poor quality. Hair dryer poor.
