"Pleasant"

6.0

The house was clean and well appointed. It was close to the town centre in relation to location. It was warm and cosy and the beds were comfortable.

We had an issue with the 1st floor toilet which failed to flush efficiently. We contacted the letting agent who was keen to help but didn't fully solve the problem as the plumber was away on holiday. We mostly had to use the en-suite toilet which was on the 2nd floor and this was fine for myself and my sister but not terribly convenient for my elderly mother. The photo on the listing is not the actual house that we stayed in which was a bit misleading and caused problems when we were trying to initially locate the house when we arrived. Personally, I think the listing photo of the house front needs changing to reflect the actual house offered. Parking wasn't great, although we did manage to get a spot eventually, they were limited ... but I suppose you get that when you stay near to the town centre.

"A beautifully appointed Keswick style house in a fab location with access to amazing scenery."

8.0

Beautiful house in a great location. Parking was sometimes troublesome as locals seem to be aware of the free parking. The whole house is beautifully decorated and the TV options are fantastic. The view from the top bedroom is lovely. A short walk (ten minutes) takes you into Keswick centre, which is lovely and has everything you need shopping wise. There are lovely walks around the lake and it is a good place to explore the northern lakes by car. I recommend dropping in at Cranston’s Cumbrian Food Hall just off the M6 roundabout at Penrith, to stock up on Cumberland sausage and bacon. They also have an excellent cafe/restaurant.

We didn’t find the beds very comfortable and a bit too hot with the foam toppers. The bathrooms didn’t have anywhere to put shampoos and towels near the shower/ bath. There was a poor selection of ‘tools’ in the kitchen drawer. The pans are not very good and the large frying pan was unuseable. Not enough non wine glasses. No way of making coffee, once the (unobtainable) pods had run out. Most of the mugs were not microwave safe and my mother burnt herself on one. I had to remove rubbish and food waste from the recycling bins outside as someone doesn’t understand the concept of different bins for recycling. Once I had corrected the issue the bins were emptied by contractors. Please don’t think we didn’t enjoy our stay here, because we loved staying at Hazelgrove. It just needs a little finessing.

"Most relaxing stay we had in the UK"

10.0

Spacious and welcoming home. You could tell the owners really cared about the little details and making this a positive experience for guests. Comfortable furnishings, all the mod cons, kitchen needs and even board games and toys for the kids.

We loved everything so no criticisms. But if you have mobility challenges be aware that the (spacious and comfortable) bedrooms are located upstairs.
