Location was great. View was excellent.

Over 60 steep, unsafe, irregular steps. Missing railings. Building Door locked from inside and no way out except with a key. Master bedroom TV broken.

It is absolutely beautiful and huge. Location above the piazza could not be any better. a/c in all main areas and works well. I would recommend!

This is not specific to only this property but THE STAIRS. Just know that you will be climbing them. It was not a negative for us, but I think those who are renting need to be aware in case they have mobility issues. The owners are so kind and friendly but they are not on site, which limits flexibility in check in and check out, or other unforeseen issues. It’s not like a hotel where someone is there anytime you decide to come and go. It is fine, I just didn’t quite understand this because I was using booking.com to book this and didn’t know I was renting more of a b&b property. (Usually I stick with hotels because I am known to change plans at the last minute and need flexibility) Something I also don’t usually do because I don’t typically rent airbnbs is that I didn’t read the fine print. My mistake. There is a $300 cash deposit required. Any deposit is a dealbreaker for me, if I am aware. (My fault for not reading). this was our last day in Italy, so I am headed back to the US with $300 in euros and will pay a fee to exchange back.

There are so many things that we liked. Obviously, the location of the apartment is perfect. The view from the apartment is again perfect. The beds were so comfortable. The kitchen is fully equipt. There are so many things that I will forget to add and the host and her colleagues were so helpfull. We will look at rebooking this apartment should we visit Lucca again.

The things we didn't like are far outweighed by the things that we did like and I don't really want to put people off from booking this apartment as it is probably one of the best apartments in Lucca, but to put an honest review then: * The steps upto the apartment are not for someone who has walking difficulties but it is an experience. * I was under the impression that the apartment had 3 bedrooms but it only has 2 bedrooms and a sofa which is located on the top floor that converts into a double bed. There is also another sofa in a different part of the apartment that also converts into a bed but is inbetween the 2 bedrooms and the bathroom. Taking into the consideration the sleeping arrangements this did not affect our stay one bit but if you we were travelling as 3 couples then it would be something to consider. * We had to pay the City tax in cash but did not receive any receipt. I accept having to pay City tax but would have preferred to have had this included in the booking, if possible. * THIS IS THE BAD ONE - We had to give a €300.00 CASH deposit that is returned at the end of the stay if there is no damage to the apartment. As we left the apartment to fly home on the same day then this meant that we have returned home with €300.00 in CASH. We would have preferred to have used the cash on our holiday and left a credit card deposit as guarantee which would have simply been returned when we left the apartment. Taking into consideration all of the negative information above, I would still recommend this apartment.

Great view from the front room, clean, good kitchen and living area. Close to city centre and all sightseeing places. Close to good restaurants.

Bedroom 2 beds more suited to kids than adults. Bedroom 3 was more of a walkway than a bedroom with a couch as a bed. Stairs are dangerous with no handrails on certain sections

Superb location in fantastic town. Great views and well equipped. Friendly hosts. Would book again without hesitation.

Apartment location, construction, and size was very good. Kitchen well appointed with appliances, dishes, etc, except for no microwave and very few kitchen towels. The view was excellent and the noise insulation was very good, considering its location just above a busy location. A/C worked well. Owners were responsive.

The advertising of three bedrooms is not true. There are three beds, one in the only bedroom available to us, one is in a hallway, the second is the living room which is open plan with the kitchen. We also discovered when leaving that there was an additional small bedroom, which was locked and not available to us. There were also no written instructions, e.g. for things like garbage, security system, etc., which was inconvenient (and we discovered from others renting in the same building that they had written instructions). The apartment is furnished quite sparsely, particularly in dining area/terrace with a very cheap table and chairs, which made the area less useful. The owners seemed to be inexperienced in renting an apartment, so they need to get up to speed. For the price, we expected better furnishings and truth in advertising.
