Villa Mateo with Private Pool

The Jacuzzi was the best one we've ever had in our 10+ years of travelling. The pool was very refreshing and the hosts were very discreet/gave us our privacy. The kitchen was well equipped (with a filter coffee maker) and parking was available. They gifted us some juice and local cookies, very nice of them.

The WiFi worked once, briefly, for ten minutes (only in the kitchen). We reported it twice and other reviewers have reported it too. There is just no internet, unless you have roaming. The TVs did not work, they had no signal and the remote control's batteries were empty. The blanket was a thin woolen one which meant my partner's dust mite allergy was triggered. The last thing I won't hold against the host but it left a sour taste: I already sleep with earplugs and their neighbour decided to use electric hedge trimmers next to our bedroom every morning before 9am, very annoying. We hardly got any sleep.

Everything is as expected. The hosts are wonderful and unobtrusive.

Great place in a good location. Very spacious and has everything you could need and more. Would definitely recommend and look forward to returning again.

Friendly owners. There is also a nice pool, but we went there for new year, so we mostly used jacuzzi, which was also really nice. The room (with kitchen, WC and some additional nice stuff), which is separated from the house, is nice if you intend to be a bit louder and don't want to disturb the owners.

Closest shop is quite far so you will need a car to get you groceries, but if you like peace that’s definitely place to go.

Warm welcome from our hosts who were extremely helpful and respected our privacy. Villa was modern, well equipped and spotlessly clean throughout. Outside space and facilities were fantastic with mountains behind and a gorgeous view down into gruda valley with the sea in the distance was beautiful. Idyllic location in a small village, friendly smile and hello from everyone. A perfect getaway.

Nothing to note but due to its 6km distance away from gruda village with its larger shops and restaurants (serving fresh homemade delicious food) a hire car is essential. Like I said tho it's not a complaint as the views from the roads were fantastic.

Perfect accommodation that had two kitchens, three bedrooms, a swimming pool and many fun activities such as ping pong, badminton, hot tub, etc. We recommend it for those who want to be away from busy city streets and crowded beaches

The apartment was spacious and very homely and well- equipped. There were a lot of facilities to use and the hosts were very friendly and helpful. They made us feel welcome while also allowing us privacy, which was lovely.

We did not get an entire villa as described, it was quite misleading as it was actually an apartment on the middle floor of a villa, with the hosts living on the top floor and their parents living on the bottom floor. You will need a car to get around as it's up a steep hill, with quite trecherous roads, we didn't go out when it was dark as it was dangerous driving conditions. We had to travel quite a way for the shops and lots of restaurants were closed as the season is ended beginning of October. The pictures of the villa make it look a lot more luxury than it is.
