Beautiful location, classic villa and excellent service

Use of the living room and terrace all day would be great

I arrived at Villa Anselmi but found the building huge, dark, empty & deserted, despite the kindness & warmth of Elena who had come to the property to give me my large bunch of keys. The keys were difficult to use & I told Elena & Carlo Anselmi that I couldn't stay there.

I had been looking forward very much to staying at Villa Anselmi & had a welcoming text message from Carlo Anselm when I arrived in Livorno, after a wonderful, long, solo trip through Europe by train staying in Paris, Geneva, Milan, Venice, Florence & finally, Livorno where I had planned to have a family reunion with Dolores & Claudio Pardini, who I have known for over 40 years. I was met at the property by Elena who was very welcoming & kind. She carried my suitcase up the long, steep stairs to my room & gave me a large bunch of keys. I was surprised by how huge, dark, empty & deserted the building seemed to be & how difficult the bunch of keys were to use in the different locks. Elena did everything possible to help me but I could not open the front door & I had difficulty explaining the problem to her as she didn't speak Italian or English. She cried & I comforted her. The lock seemed completely unreliable. It was also difficult to find the lights to lead me safely from the front door to my room. I have travelled widely in my work as a producer for the BBC & have stayed in many unusual venues without having any problems at all. I also enjoyed my recent 3 weeks of solo train travel through Europe without any problems with the hotels & train companies I used on the way. But, when I walked into Villa Anselmi, I knew I could not stay there. I told Carlo that I could not stay & he promised to give me me a full refund but then, after a conversation with his wife, he said he would not give me a refund & that if I left the front door open overnight, I wouldn't have a problem with the lock! I was also told that the property was full of people, but I knew from the closed shutters & lack of lights at the windows of the property, that I was the only one there. Jennifer Holden

We cannot express any likings. We walked out the door and didnt check in.

We walked out and never checked in. The two greeting representatives did not speak english and owner refused to come after call with them. We were about to check in after being shown the premises and were immediately told that premises for the inviting terrace with view over ocean along with eating room is only available o beetween 9-10 when breakfast. Other 23 hours it was locked. The terrace was one of main reasons for chosing this accomodation with oceanview. Remaining time it was not allowed, We were only allowed in the room and in out of Villa.. According to the representatives we were the only guests!!! No outdoor furniture available when we asked. When we decided to walk out after halfhour trying discussions and not feeling neither welcome nor comfortable the position changed, owner was called and after negotiations offered some access.....we already then lost confidence in the seriousness of this business and decided to leave. Money were lost without any offer of reembursement but we gained a new experience in other pleasant accomodation...

Perfect stay! The villa is unique, lovely, historic and with a good vibe! It's an amazing experience! The host was welcoming, we received all support and advice we needed. All requests were satisfied. Breakfast is good and very tasty. Loved it all, truly! Big recommendation.

There are only rocky beaches nearby. Not well maintained. You'll need to drive or take a bus if you'd like a good swim.

The villa's antique furnishings give it a beautiful, unique experience. The location of the building is excellent, you can see the sea from the terrace of the breakfast area. The breakfast is also very good, and the staff also do everything to make the guest feel good.
