Lovely view of the lake. Lovely breakfast and hosts were polite and helpful.

Very tired decoration etc. Floors in bedroom and bathroom felt wobbly. Bathroom needing an upgrade. Lounge looked like an old people’s home lounge. No restaurant and bar not open. We were the only guests the first night so it felt a bit creepy. We read so many positive reports that we were very disappointed in the standard even for a 3 star historical hotel.

"Calm and relaxing."

Location and breakfast very good. Situated on the lake side, view exceptional, easy access to walks, around lake or up Helvellyn. A short walk the Kings Head, excellent food and drink.

Place is fantastic, beautiful location and property. Should definitely be a 4 star at least. Dealt with 2 staff, Dale & John, both a credit to the place. Could not have been nicer. 100% returning here.
