UMI-IRO Onomichi Senkoji Park

This is a stunning property up on the hill with glorious views. The pictures on this site don't do it justice at all! We arrived to find a beautiful Japanese garden and after uploading our passport details we gained access. The house is just beautiful, with a wrap around balcony overlooking Onomichi and the islands. The traditional elements of the house have been preserved with some beautiful design features with some rooms built into the rock. There are 3 very comfortable bedrooms, a huge bathroom with a roll top bath with views out the back. The fridge was full of wine, fizz, beer, iced tea etc, if we had stayed a week I doubt we could have got through it all, incredibly generous! Lots of tea and coffee too and there is an ice maker, a microwave, a rice cooker, a toaster and a big hob (no oven as is usual). There is also a very cute bakery about a minute's walk away which is great for breakfast. Be aware that it's a steep climb up from town, not suited to those with mobility issues, but there are always taxis at the station which are very cheap if you don't fancy the climb.

The kitchen could have been a little better equipped, there were only 4 sets of chopsticks (which didn't matter to us as we are only 4, but the house can sleep many more) and only one frying pan. We cooked one night and managed fine though!
