The owner of the hotel is a very hospitable lady. She helped me to plan my trip around Halong Bay: choosing an excursion around Halong bay, the local bus and a local boat (google didn’t give me any information about local buses and boats which are mostly for locals, not for tourists), transfer to Cat Ba island. Also she agreed to store my suitcase for free for a few days when I’m on the island. The hotel is right in the city centre, there are many shops and restaurants nearby. Especially I liked the yellow bakery right near the hotel and a family restaurant 2 minutes walk from the hotel
