Setre Glover's House Nagasaki

Friendly staff. Nice neighborhood- easy access to trolley. Unexpectedly very good dinner and breakfast-best part of my stay! Comfortable room with nice views.

Room decor a bit dated.

The location is excellent. The staff are great. The beds are very comfortable. The lounge with free drinks (non-alcoholic & alcoholic) and snacks is a great place to sit and relax. The set breakfast is very good and the set dinner was amazing. You have to book for dinner because the chef designs a different 4 course menu every day. It was almost perfect!

There was a few idiosyncrasies with the room. It was a bit dated, which in itself is OK, except that the carpet was worn and the chairs sagged. There was a lovely recycling box but no regular trashcan in the room or the bathroom. And no tissues!

The rooms could do with a freshen up.

The property has wonderful character and the social spaces are designed and managed so thoughtfully. The location up the hill is beautiful with stunning views of the harbor out of the room windows. The staff was incredible, so kind and competent and endlessly helpful.

I would just warn people that it’s an old house, so there is a bit of a musty smell in some areas, in case you’re really averse to that kind of thing. We didn’t. And the mattress can seem uncomfortable. but we actually slept great.

So much history within this area! Amazing location near the Dutch slopes, and beautiful views overlooking the harbour. Rooms are kept very traditional European, so are a little old fashioned but very clean. The lobby is modern and fantastic and replete with complimentary drinks, snacks and all you could desire. The breakfast is a stand out, and the staff are wonderful. They couldn’t be more helpful, kind or supportive and they helped us with a couple of issues on our stay. Nagasaki is a magical and powerful place, and this hotel is the perfect stay to unwind and reflect after a day of recognising the powerful history of a very special and place. Great location and very walkable to all the fun bars and restaurants.

Beds were quite hard! And we prefer a more modern style, but still lovely and an important experience.

Just a few steps down the hill from the Setre Glover House and Gardens. Also very close to the tram Line which takes you to most of the attractions in the area. Staff was lovely and the included breakfast and dinners were all an amazing value and very unique. They were exceptionally wonderful about all of my families’ food allergies and preferences. Note- they do eat whale here which was a bit of a shocker!

The rooms were a little tired and the exterior patio balcony was rusted through so I wouldn’t go out there. The shower/tub is open to the room which is a little odd and you need to be very careful about where you aim the shower head.

1. From pre-arrival to departure, personalised service was extended all the time. I appreciated the hotel response to my inquiries prior to our arrival. Swift responses with details at any time. 2. Breakfast was exceptional with local produce. Breakfast set menu was changed daily so we truly enjoyed varieties of dishes and tastes. 3. Establishment itself was historical especially that location.
