They cancelled booking by force claiming they overbooked mistakenly. It was awful.

The hotel has a good facilities and location.

Staff does not comunícate in English or Spanish and don’t have control on the hotel electric tools. I have to mange my own payment through the payment machine.

We were a bit surprised by Yala Chalets and we write our criticism in the spirit of hoping this charming facility can approve. To start we liked that the staffed bent over backwards to meet our needs, such as an early arrival and overnight laundry. The grounds of the small hotel are charming and if you are looking for quiet you will find it. A lovely breakfast was served by the attentive woman on duty at the time (possibly named Shanti?).

Unfortunatley for the nearly $100 a night charge of this place, we expected something more. It seemed that both the main manager and assistant manager were not on duty during our stay, and the remaining staff didn't really speak much English - which was causing an issue for another pair of guests we observed. There really isn't a stocked bar of drinks available (not even a single beer!) which is odd for a hotel of this price range. The pool needs a bit of maintenance (murky water). our room had bugs including a roach and fire ants, and one lizard we saw in it. Also the hotel wouldn't let us pay for incidentals with a credit card (the staff said through a translator that they didn't know how to work the machine). Management needs to make some efforts to make this place a bit less rough around the edges, and then it will be worth the price.

We loved the stay! The staff has been very attentive and always kind. We have been the only ones staying there, but they still always stayed around to make sure what are looked after. It is also a good location to do a safari. Thank you! We would always recommend and come back. Ps take care of the tiny animals, they are in the room a lot- well, welcome to Sri Lanka. ;)

Breakfast had hairs in it, very dirty. Dinner was very poor and local and I been charged 6000 rupees for it The staff was ok but non of them speak English, so it was really hard to communicate, they said ok but always didn’t really understand. One of the reasons we came is for the poll but it was so dirty that we couldn’t go in, he only opened it for us on 7 pm which was very late and cold
