Très bel appartement à Monaco

The apartment was clean and, prior to arrival, the host was helpful

The description of the property excluded any reference to the need to climb 15 external steps which were both difficult and, when carrying suitcases, dangerous. I would hate to have used them when wet. The location was on a busy roundabout which was noisy and which the double glazing didn't obscure. Even though it was a Grand Prix weekend, it was noisier on a weekday. It was impossible to open the balcony doors without having to tolerate the traffic noise and exhaust fumes. The airconditioning was ineffective and only in the living room, not in the bedroom. The sound deadening in the apartment was poor and as a result any movement by the upstairs neighbour during the night (including using the lavatory) could be heard clearly. There were no user instructions for any device (aircon, kettle, TV, washing machine), no information how to access amenities (supermarket, shops, bus stop) or information on how to get into town (public lifts). As a result of the noise, we left the apartment after 3 of the 8 nights we had booked but the host refused even minimal compensation. I am very surprised that Booking.com allowed this apartment to be marketed with incomplete information on access and noise.
