"We had a fantastic family weekend together. However, it was certainly tempered by the negatives"

7.0

Fantastic location. Secluded but close enough to local amenities. Only a couple of hundred yards from the sea front with lovely walks. Amazing seafood restaurant a few doors away. Garden was great with awesome views across the open fields to the sea. Beds were comfortable and bathrooms were very clean and modern. The house itself was a lovely olde-world cottage with a really well appointed kitchen.

Attached to the fridge door was a list of instructions including: • No parties allowed • Do your dishes • Don’t rearrange the furniture • Don’t eat or drink in the bedrooms • Take care of furnishings. You have to pay for any damage Not the friendliest of welcomes! The furniture throughout the house was quite tired Although there was Wi-Fi, the range of the router was extremely limited and almost unusable in the garden There wasn’t one TV in the entire house. Never come across that before. The house was very personalised with family photos all over the walls and kids toys in the bedrooms. Coupled with the “don’t spoil our house” messages on the fridge, it did feel very much like we were intruding in someone’s family home. There were 2 kayaks in the garden and 3 push bikes in the garden shed. However, it was made clear to us that we were not permitted to use them as they belonged to the owners. Had they not been there, we wouldn’t have given it a second thought. However, my view is that all amenities should be available to the guests or they shouldn’t be there. It just added to the sense that we were intruding. The final kicker was that there was a £90 cleaning fee for a property that cost over £1,100 to rent for 2 nights. Had the property been spotless when we arrived, you could probably have forgiven them for having very high standards (although I still think that cleaning should be part of the overall rental charge). However, that was not the case. There were spiders and cobwebs throughout the house. Stained carpets. Signs of a leak in the roof in a couple of the bedrooms. I struggle to justify the cleaning charge

"Lovely place, very sad we couldn’t make better use of our weekend there."

10.0

Very comfortable and well appointed, clean. Wonderfully quiet!

Would have liked more instructions and info on site -eg about recycling & rubbish. We had to leave early through not feeling well, and consequently hadn’t had the leaving instructions. We got it 99% right, but it’d be nicer to have it written down and accessible in the house. The parking space is quite small.

"Really enjoyed our stay and would go back again."

7.0

Great location in pretty quiet village. Cosy comfortable house with good WiFi. Enclosed garden great for dogs. Plenty to do within easy reach. Good walks straight from house. Quick response when there was a problem with the dishwasher. Plenty of games, books, CDs etc. Electric radiators efficient.

Parking very limited although possible to leave cars at Quay. Dishwasher wasn’t working so crockery etc didn’t seem clean. Kitchen equipment could do with a sort out. More glasses needed. Cafetière would be useful.
