Casa De Gruene Retreat

Absolutely nothing the area is sketchy, looks like they ran out of money while building the area. They did not respond to any messages once our booking was supposed to start.

Our booking was supposed to start at 4pm they never sent us a code to get in the door. I reached out to the property several times with no response via the lessening through booking. I tried calling the number listed it does not work. Two hours past our check in time I get ahold of booking.com and they tell me I have to wait another 45 minutes while they try to get ahold of the property. Now we are 4 women in our swimsuits ( we had been floating on the river) standing in the middle of nowhere nowhere to use a restroom or anything and it’s getting dark. To top it off my groceries had been delivered and are sitting out refrigerated because we can’t get into the location. Then 45 minutes later I get an email from booking saying they are no longer honoring our booking and offering us 0 dollars as a refund. The email had a link offering us a hotel as a substitute for the house we booked. The hotel that was offered was 19 hours away in a different STATE that was worth less than half of my original booking price was. I still have not received a refund. I am out the cost of my groceries, and I had to book elsewhere and am out an additional 550 dollars in a different stay.

Beautiful home, parking available right behind the cabin, amenities were good.

The property was clean in a basic sense, but several important details were disappointing. The upstairs toilet seat was dirty, and there were hair strands in the upstairs bathtub. The fan in the upper bedroom was extremely slow even on the highest setting. A hanger was left on a chair, and more concerning, a corkscrew was found behind a couch cushion, which posed a safety risk for our baby. The lower-floor second bedroom had a strong foul smell from a wet rug. We had to roll it up and set it aside in order to sleep there. We were instructed to keep the thermostat at 75°F, yet it was set to 60°F on arrival. Even after adjusting it, the temperature did not reach a comfortable level for several hours. Communication was inconsistent. We were told a form needed to be filled out, but despite multiple messages, we received no response for that. Questions about a car charger also went unanswered. With the cleaning fee nearly three-quarters of the room price — along with a 5 hour gap between check out and next check in, several house rules and checkout tasks like starting the laundry load, keeping dishes in the dishwasher, taking out trash, these issues were disappointing and do not feel justified. We did not message the host about the issues during our stay as they did respond properly to our previous messages.

Love the location, build, and decor of the home. It was perfectly located, and very peaceful.

There was so much pet fur that it was to the point of getting on my clothes and in my food and the bathrooms were not so clean, it seemed like someone was just there right before we got there. We had problems with water pressure while showering and the host was hard to get a hold of at the beginning of our stay and he tried to get in contact with me at the end of our stay, at that point I had no interest of communicating then
