Merdeka House, Bentong

Everything. Immaculate heritage place with modern bathrooms. Entering the house was already so fun like going to some hidden hideout and once you're in you know you found a gem. So beautiful. Short walk to Bentong market and all the restaurants. Ample and well designed space with well equipped kitchen, yard, laundry room, living, dinning areas for the entire group of 7 to enjoy.

The extra mattress, it's worn out. Very bad for the back. No extra pillows came with it :(

The property was convenient to restaurants, market and shopping. Very convenient for family or friends of 6 pax

The noise from the cars from the main road and rat droppings in the entrance to the property. We are grateful for the ear buds.

Spacious, clean and tastefully decorated. Nice place to chill with friends.

The steps to the second level was a bit steep.

Easily the single loveliest, most elegant home I’ve ever rented in all my trips in Malaysia. In Bentong of all places. The old shophouse has been renovated thoughtfully, opening up the roof to bring in natural light and airiness throughout, while maintaining reverence for a bygone era. The little hosting touches matter too - plenty of luxurious thick fluffy towels and elegant sheets - my pet peeve at most Airbnbs - great water pressure in bathrooms - welcome fruit basket - earplugs in the bedrooms to dampen the street traffic noise - even wine glasses and a corkscrew! Location-wise: Bentong is surprisingly strategic base - a hour away from outdoorsy cycling and hipster cafes in Janda Baik, or hiking in Frasers Hill, and tons of great food all around.

The master bedroom is above Bentong’s Main Street and traffic noise can disturb light sleepers - we brought our own earplugs but were very touched that Bentong House provided these just in case… Being smack in town and 5 min walk (or 15min Grabfood delivery) from hundreds of Bentong’s culinary delights, nobody needs a full kitchen but just a small toaster oven would help extend lazy mornings enjoying the house :)
