We had an extremely poor experience with this homestay 1. Accident (An incident occurred at the homestay that resulted in my injury) When I came back with my takeaway food and sat down at the dining table, one of the chair legs suddenly broke. I fell to the floor and got injured — I now have a bruise on my left hand and pain in my back and leg from the fall. My husband reported the incident to the agent and after that shared photos of my bruise. However, the agent’s response was very disappointing and unempathetic. The reply downplayed the incident as a “small matter” (even using this😅 symbol at the WhatsApp’s), and during our phone call, the agent repeatedly mentioned that it might have been my fault for “not sitting properly.” I found this extremely unprofessional and irresponsible. The agent mentioned that the owner was only willing to compensate RM50 for a doctor’s visit, and anything beyond that would have to be paid by us. This was extremely disappointing and left us feeling that the situation was not taken seriously at all. 2. Poor Maintenance of the Homestay Furniture and Items The accident occurred mainly due to the poor maintenance of the furniture and items by the agent/owner. Some examples include: • Loose items were simply taped with cellophane tape instead of being properly fixed. • Loose fittings in the toilet were not repaired, and the toilet door lock was difficult to unlock once locked. • At the dining area, one chair was already broken (which caused my injury), while another chair was unstable and shaky. • Raised wooden flooring (tatami) in the living area felt unsafe, and it made a creaking “yi yi yi” sound whenever we stepped on it. 3. Others Issue Guardhouse Entrance Not Guest-Friendly Each time we returned to the homestay, the guardhouse area was congested with cars. As guests, we were only allowed to register as visitors and were not provided with an access card even after registration. This meant that every time we wanted to
