The Ume Sidemen Villas

Beautiful location . Great for couples with separate bathrooms. Wonderful staff

The property was remote. There is no Gojek or Grab (transportation) so we were stuck with no transport and therefore no access to cafes, restaurants, food or entertainment. Neither the Villa Manager or the host told us about the beautiful Sidemen Villas situated up the road (it’s set back from the road and not obvious) so we walked to the Ezymart and had a packet of chips for dinner on our first night. Even when we complained about this problem they didn’t mention the restaurant at the Villas. Extraordinary. On the first morning the Villa Manager Raka arrived an hour late with breakfast. The 2nd morning he was 2.5hrs late and arrived empty handed with no breakfast and no excuse. We missed our day trip bookings and the ripple effect of this really ruined our stay. We constantly felt that he didn’t understand what we were talking about even though he nodded and agreed he could get things done. Finally we found out about the Sidemen Villa from a local driver (we were also not advised that we had access to a driver even when we complained about no transport apps working) so we went there and paid for our own breakfast on the third day. The pool had so much chlorine in it we had to jump in and out very quickly. It literally burnt the skin and was chokingly strong smelling. The door handle to one of our bedrooms jammed and my friend was locked in. The Villa Manager said he forgot to fix it. The water was switched off on the last day so we couldn’t shower, wash up, wash our hands, flush the toilet… it took over an hour for the Villa Manager to respond to calls and texts and to come and fix it…once again making us late for our days plans and our pick up. On a positive note the host paid for our dinner one night to apologise for all the problems we experienced. And the Villa Manager did pick up some medicine from the Apotek for me. Unfortunately the problems far outweighed these positives. The accommodation very badly needs a new manager.

It would be better if there was a towel rack for outside to dry things in the sun. You need your own transport to get anywhere

Nothing, I liked it all

Our stay was very nice because we could relax to the fullest. Not only did Nila, a staff at our villa, deliver food from restaurants to us when we were too tired to get out and hire a driver, or offer to buy something for us or change parts of the breakfast. If you need anything, you can ask her and she's swift in texting back and organizing something to fulfill your need (rice field trekking or buying Sarongs + getting the best price for them :)). The villa offers a variety of different activities to learn about the Balinese culture and Nila introduced us to some traditionsand explained some as well. Additionally, the pool gave us a break from the heat and the view from our patio was beautiful.

The villa is a bit outside of the Sidemen center and you need either taxi service or scooters to go into the city. The villa provides a number for a driver which you can hire. For a round-trip, we mostly paid 150'000 IDR Maybe it would be fun to have a small beach ball to play with in the pool :)

Great villa with really comfy massive beds and nicely done outdoor showers and baths. Loved the pool and looking out at the scenery. Nila was very helpful in arranging anything we needed including where we could walk to enjoy the views.

The location is quite remote, this is ideal if you rent scooters for the stay, or want to just enjoy the villa and scenery, otherwise it's a (very) expensive taxi ride.
