Wayras Inn Cusco Hotel

Not a lot, location was good

On arrival I got one of worst welcomes I have any where in the world, monsoon conditions outside but no excuse for the young man on reception who showed me to a room where I started to unpack & settle in, only for him to come back and move me to another room in the pouring rain, without offering any help or apology because he had put me in the wrong room, so I got soaked again as the rooms are around an open courtyard & the rain pours in, the floor is not drained properly so it was flooded. So cold& wet I went for a shower, a terrible instant water heater, where if you wanted a hot shower it just dribbled on you, if you turned it up it just went cold. I went to reception to pay because when I arrived it was chaos & he didn’t want to deal with it, he spoke absolutely no English like most of the staff & was very dismissive of anything I tried to say, as an overseas visitor staying less than 60 days in Peru you do not pay 18% vat on hotel rooms, but even with google translate as I do not speak a lot of Spanish, I could not make him understand, even with the price on the booking app, very tired from a very long journey I paid & hoped to sort it out with booking but sadly they do not seem interested so I am 50 usd out of pocket. I have now been in Peru 6 weeks & this is the only hotel that charged me tax on my stay. Apart from one of the girls the reception staff did not appear to be very friendly or helpful, I have travelled to over 100 countries & this is possibly the worst 24 hours I have had at a hotel anywhere. The rooms are cold even with heavy bedding & the curtains don’t block out the light. No one emptied my bathroom bin for 3 days despite not being able to flush toilet paper, or cleaned my room. Wi-Fi was very spotty, worked occasionally, they tried to blame it on the weather. All in all I’m spoiled a stay in what is a great city & most people outside of the hotel were delightful.

Very clean, new bedding, new towels nice breakfast Buffet in the morning. Staff was helpful with everything I need it.

Price was a little higher than I would like to have seen for this is a property with the cleanliness, and how new everything was was a bonus.
