The Red Lion Arlingham

The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to accommodate us and our bikes as we were on a 3 county cycle tour. We had a lovely clean spacious room overlooking the village square. Great menu choices for the evening meal, beautifully cooked and a well set out continental breakfast which we could eat in our room.

Lack of WiFi

I like the feel of these rooms this is the second time I have stayed, it feels more like staying at home than at a hotel (That's if your home is 250 years old!!). The continental breakfast laid out in your room, with fresh milk, juices, muesli, pastries and cereals is great. You can also make yourself a filter coffee too. As this is for business travel and I leave early, this breakfast is very much appreciated. There is the added bonus of the village pub next door (However, it is closed on mondays, and food only available Wednesday - Sunday). Mark and Sally run the pub, and both have contacted or spoken to me to make sure booking is okay, which is a nice touch. Next time I stay I will aim for a Wednesday night to try the food which I'm told is excellent.

I don't think WiFi is available, food only available Wednesday-Sunday, pub closed on Monday. This is a village pub so the staff will have a day off, so this should be expected and allowed for.

Pub is nice

The bathroom is advertised as a private bathroom, but we had to share it with another couple. The bathroom only had 2 towels so it was unclear if we were supposed to share towels with the other couple?! Bathroom had some hairs on the floor. The reviews also suggest there is the option of breakfast downstairs in the pub but the only option is a continental breakfast which is put in your room the day before (ie so not fresh).

All the people who work there were very welcoming and the food in the pub was excellent.

The rooms are nicely furnished but basic and so were the bathrooms - which can be expected in a such an old pub. Breakfast was pre-prepared in the room and was not great.

Perfect night stay as we were at a wedding down the road. Bed comfy and continental breakfast in the room most welcomed
