The only nice thing about the property is the space of the villa and ALI who works in the hotel being helpful. Everything else was a bad experience, read below.

I have double booked by mistake and canceled a booking that is fully refundable. the person responding to me on booking (Shadya Ahmed) with her lack of experience asked me to ask for a charge back from my bank, something I’m not obligated to do but I did it anyways because she was insisting. It has been 8 months and the hotel did not return the payment, they have made it a living hell for me to receive a refund that is my full right, they are a bunch of thieves that are trying to get away with paying a guest bank their money. They are not responding to me, my bank or booking. They have purposely complicated the situation so that they can get away with it. When I contacted them again and again they lied to my face and said that the refund was already processed and completed which was a complete lie, this is documented on email and messages with threads including their bank (Equity Bank (TZ) Ltd). The general manager: Amos Wambugu has been trying to be helpful and was responsive in the situation but is apparently unable to get his hotel or bank to pay bank. Being helpful and responsive does nothing for me when I have to wait for almost a year to get a refund back. On top of all this, the room and bed was full of bugs and worms crawling on the sheets and the bathroom kept leaking water. This is the case in both villas and regular rooms. At the moment they are trying to hustle booking.com and ignoring my bank while playing the long game with me. They are risking losing their contract with booking and acting like they are the four seasons or the ritz instead of trying to win a customer. Literally the worse handling of financials management I have ever seen by any hotel in my whole entire life. The problem is I was still a guest there and they couldn’t even have the decency to help me.

I liked the scale of the resort - it felt very select, personal and friendly. Lovely gardens, plenty of sun beds at the beach and sofas by the beach bar, with a lovely atmosphere in the restaurant and lounge area in the evening. The food was amazing, especially the grilled fish. Ally (manager) was always present especially during dining and the staff were so welcoming. I loved the resort and hope to return.

There could have been more shade around the pool - but really this so picky - there’s little to not like.

The space. It is a very large property with not too many rooms. Always a free lounge chair on the first row. Very nice bar to have a bite of food or a drink seating watching the sea. The staff is very friendly and the guest manager Ali is super friendly as the rest of the staff.

The buffet breakfast could have more healthy options.

We loved our stay at Sands. The staff were all so friendly, Ally was so welcoming and corrected any issues instantly and made sure our stay was comfortable. The villas were clean, the beach beautiful and the food buffet style and plenty of choice. Would highly recommend.

"Amazing place to stay in Zanzibar"

It is an amazing accomodation! Really beautiful and gives you a holiday feeling! In front of the sea with confortable beds to enjoy the day at the beach! Mr.Ally the manager made us feel home! Perfect service and extremely friendly! The food is also really good with a fish from the BBQ every night! On Fridays the have an African night with great music and food! To conclude: this is a must place to stay in Zanzibar!

Nothing I did not like! All was perfect and we did not want to leave!
