Bunk House Big House 2BR Mountain Views 7 min to Yellowstone

Big House at Bunkhouse was a great base from which to base our Yellowstone adventure. Location wise, it is just a short 20min drive from the park's West entrance making it a good starting point for either the upper or lower loops. Yellowstone is huge so it is a fair distance from the Lamar Valley so expect a long drive to and from if, like us, this is the only place you are basing yourself. The house itself is very quirky and has a nice western charm. The kitchen is well equipped and the beds (at least in the bedrooms) were comfortable. Checkin is very easy via a door code. It is large enough for bigger parties of up to 8 people with 2 bedrooms and 2 sizeable sofa beds.

Bighouse at Bunkhouse appears to be newly let and we thought there were a few functional issues with the house. There is only 1 shower and that is located upstairs - the bedrooms are downstairs. One of the bedrooms has an ensuite but it only has a bath (no shower). The second room's guests have to trek upstairs in the middle of the night for the toilet. The dining area is also located upstairs away from the kitchen so is not particularly functional. Guests can eat outside on the deck but on occasion there are quite a lot of insects. There are no laundry facilities in the guesthouse.

The location was great, beautiful setting. The road getting in was a little bumpy, lots of pot holes.

Having the family room upstairs was hard for folks with bad knees and backs but once up there, it was beautiful. No real comfortable sitting space on first level.
