The Kenmuir Arms Hotel

I visited this hotel in New Luce (a tiny but beautiful village in the Galloway countryside) as part of doing the Southern Upland Way and really I couldn't have asked for a more pleasant and comfortable room in a genuinely attractive and characterful hotel.

Nothing - it was all pretty good.

Recently renovated which was done beautifully and to a high standard. Decor tasteful. Frequented by friendly locals. An overall lovely ambience to the place.

Continental breakfast did not match the dinner. Plain bread for toast was disappointing as was range of fruit offered. Overall satisfactory but compared to dinner offerings a definite level down.

There was nothing to dislike,the building,the restaurant, the staff,the owner/chef,local people,the gardens.....need I say more. This was an overnight stay en route to the Cairnryan ferry and exceeded expectation. People should be flocking to this restaurant,showcasing local produce cooked and presented in such innovative ways. The Kenmuir Arms is an incredible example of local initiative and renovation with the inclusion and imagination of a fantastic chef and a brilliant team. We'll definitely be back.
