What could have been a relatively decent stay was marred by the host. I did not receive the check-in information he had promised despite calling him repeatedly. The phone number supplied on the bookings.com website was not even in service. I had to Google the apartment complex to get another number to contact the host. When I arrived at the property at 2:30 pm, I was dismayed to find that despite having agreed with the host to an earlier check-in between 1 and 2 pm, the apartment was still being cleaned. That turned out to be how I was let into the apartment because the host was not responding to calls or texts at that time. Soon after I had settled in, I got a knock on the door and opened it to find another person to whom the host had sold the same apartment!! He had double-booked it and he must have been the one who cancelled my booking ( I got a notification to my surprise from booking.com that it had been cancelled) to unscrupulously rent the apartment out to someone else. After many calls to the host, I was finally sent a code later in the evening as I had to go out. When I got back to the apartment at around 3 am, the code was found to be incorrect and predictably, the host was not taking calls. I was only able to reenter the apartment because I had left the window adjacent to the entrance door slightly open so that I could open the door from inside.
