Piedigrotta Magique Luxury

Spacious, attractive love nest with attractive design and decor, excellent shower and bathroom and nice minibar with free water and Prosecco. Well lit steps (over 100 but not steep) right across the street down to a pretty beach with good swimming in clean, clear water and the lovely circa 1600 Chiesa Piedigrotta, perfect for short or distant swims.

As with so many design focussed properties, a lack of furnishings on which suitcases can be placed, for travelers’ utilitarian needs. Liw to Moderate road noise.

Lovely modernised room with great bathroom and spa-bath. Nice fridge (a tad noisy), coffee machine, TV. Friendly staff/owners (we were hampered to interact properly by our lack of Italian). Owner also has Bella Vista bar/restaurant close by and owns the Piedigrotta parking space which we used. We had two nice dinners at Bella Vista. The famous Piedigrotta church is very close, with a nice spot to swim in the sea. Pizzo square is a lovely place for meals. We drove to Tropea about 45km - lovely old town with fantastic beach.

We are not used to ambient noise, therefore the traffic (coastal road right outside,neighbouring rooms, bar below, noisy plumbing) was not ideal for peaceful sleeping. The road to town (about 800m) is not pedestrian friendly at all. Order a tuk-tuk if you don’t feel like dodging traffic. The room itself was lovely except for the mattress. Hard, lumpy with noisy springs - would recommend the owner upgrades it to make the room perfect. Room has a tiny balcony - the “roof-top” area in the fotos are not accessible (unless one rents that specific room). Included breakfast consist of a coffee and croissants at the Bella Vista bar. I would recommend some written information in the room (including in English) to explain arrangements and facilities. (Once again, if we could speak Italian it would have been easy to ask)
