Gaia Off-grid Campsite

Peaceful & scenic. The river is warm, and the bird life is incredible. The ablutions are clean. The picnic area was lovely & there was a jungle gym for kids. Canoes & tubes are available for river activities. I loved syncing my rhythm to that of nature. My soul feels renewed.

I did have to share the bathroom with a massive spider (named her Mandy). We had a respectful relationship, but after 7.30pm the bathroom was a Mandy only zone.

They were friendly and helpful.

Just because you are off-grid does not mean you need to be primitive. We love rustic camping, but this camp appears to be a money grab and not worth half the fee.

We had to wait often to use both the shower and the toilet , please increase the amount of toilets and showers and the braai facilities are not enough, you need a braai per site please

It earns the name, 'sanctuary'. Hospitable, beautiful, profound attention to detail, cleaner than any campsite I've stayed at - with warm showers. What a gift.

I have no complaints. I'd recommend a slow drive if you have a city vehicle, and mosquito repellent. But, both of these come with the wild, which they curate so well.

The campsite is pet friendly and the hosts are always available and so accommodating. Taryn did a proper walk through welcome, showing us how everything works. There is a rope swing over the river, sundowners are beautiful no matter where you sit. The hosts are also working with the Overberg Renosterveld Trust to restore the land as best they could, which is simply amazing considering how little renosterveld is left. This is a lovely intro for people who are doing their first off-grid camp, as the glamping camp is right next door and you are able to use those facilities in case you need anything. Lovely experience.

Taryn is an excellent and friendly host. The accommodation was easy to find and in a lovely spot. The bathrooms were the cleanest I've seen in any campsite, and cleaner than most hotels! Such care was taken with every aspect of the facilities and every effort was made to accommodate us. There is a lovely fire pit area with fairy lights and ample braai room.
