The owner didn't allow me to check-in stating there is a maintenance issue even though he had rented it I guess at higher price

The owner is a fraud and didn't allow me to check-in stating there is a maintenance issue even though he had rented it I guess at a higher price. I'm surprised how booking .com allows them to use their platform.
