Le Dimore dei Principi

El apartamento tiene una ubicación muy céntrica. Tiene todo lo necesario para pasar unos días cómodamente. Su propietaria ha sido encantadora, muy hospitalaria, atenta en todo momento. Nos ha transmitido su conocimiento sobre la historia y el patrimonio de su ciudad y del propio edifico en el que se encuentra el apartamento.

The property was clean and the owner, who was lovely, was there to meet us. The location was very central and right next to a chemist on one side & a small convenience shop on the other. We had welcome water bottles in the fridge and coffee supplied for the machine. The property felt very secure, with 4 keys required to get through the various access points to reach it. The airport bus stops right outside; we could read the bus notice from our window! There was lots of storage space. The painting on the ceiling is beautiful & gives the illusion that the ceiling is domed.

The room overlooks a very busy main road and while there is helpful noise proofing by way of outside shutters, a glass patio door and a thin curtain, you can still hear it. The advert photos use a deceptive wide angle. It is a small room with no bed, only a sofa bed which from the photos and description of ‘1 bed’ we didn’t realise. For the price, we were very disappointed with this. We found it uncomfortable. The ‘balcony’ is not suitable to sit in, standing room only: I think this is typical of any property advertising a balcony in Catania. There were 4 very strong smelling diffusers dotted around which I had to remove: these mask a faint sewage smell from the bathroom. The bathroom shower seals had black mould stains at floor level. The view from the ‘balcony’ and around the apartment has lots of graffiti which made the area feel rough. Catania does generally have a lot of graffiti, which combined with lots of dog excrement and litter on the narrow pavements,, somewhat spoils the city.

The property location is perfect to explore catania. The hosts met us and gave us a tour of the apartment which was much appreciated. You can tell they are passionate about their Sicilian heritage. Stunning murals on the ceilings. Kitchen was well equipped and fantastic apartment to relax after a day of exploring. It was our first stop on our honeymoon and those hosts made extra surprises for us , it’s the little touches that made us feel so welcome.

Not the hosts fault but there is a bar in the street below that is open until the early hours however the windows are well sound proofed. I’m a light sleeper and once the windows were shut and aircon on I hardly noticed the noise outside l.

Es war wunderschön, überraschend leise und suoer sauber und lokal. Man kann überall zu Fuß hin laufen und man hat sich wie Zuhause gefühlt!

Amazing historic place, restored to slightest details by the owner. Have to stay there to appreciate it! Just look up when you are laying in your master bed and admire the ceiling! Unbelievable ❤️🇮🇹
