Top floor apartment in central Buxton

It had everything that was needed for a comfortable stay. The host gave us great information about what to expect and how all the appliances work. Even warned us about the 3 flights of stairs!

The 55 steps to the room might be tricky for some - it’s a good workout!

The bathroom was quite nice.

We arrived to find three flights of stairs,with numerous steps.I booked the apartment for my wife's 62nd birthday,which was a big let down.When we eventually got to the top floor,we opened the door,to a overpowering smell of cigarette smoke.We used a full tin of air freshner to try to get rid of the smell,but it didn't work.I also used dettol to clean the floors.We were left one towel on the bed,for my wife and I.Igot in contact with the owner,who said his cleaner wasn't available to bring us more towels until the next day.Its a good job we had towels of our own.Next problem was the tv,no bbc channels,the owner suggested using bbc I player.Everywhere we have stayed has had sky tv.The sofa was the most uncomfortable sofa we have sat on,the bed is extremely small and very soft and uncomfortable.The bathroom although quite nice,had a very overpowering smell,we rectified that by closing the plugs,everytime you finished using them.The apartment looks clean,until you pull things out.I had to clean cobwebs from lights,cobwebs above the radiators,clean floors, pull out the bed ,and pull out furniture in the living room.The bathroom was the cleanest,but even that wasn't perfect.It was very cold in the apartment,even with the radiators on.You could here people in the street talking,in a top floor apartment, plus when it was windy,you heard a terrible whistling through the windows.My wife and I,like comfort at our age,we like watching tv,sleeping in a comfortable bed,not climbing numerous stairs,to get to the top.Although that couldn't be helped,but the owner could of said beforehand,how many flights of stairs there were,and how many steps there were to get to the top.Or better still show people by making a video of the stairs,before you rent the apartment.

We found the apartment really stylish and modern and in a great location. We did have to notify the owner about the cleanliness as the toilet hadnt been cleaned and the cups in the kitchen were not cleaned properly, along with the livingroom floor. The owner took this feedback on board and said he would speak to his cleaner. Also, perhaps the sofa could be switched for a slightly comfier one....? Just a friendly suggestion. We would stay again though. Hopefully the cleaner has stepped up their game as other than this the apartment was lovely!

The location is perfect for exploring Buxton, old and not so old. There are plenty of essential shops nearby, high street independents, quality eateries and street markets. Access to scenic local walks couldn't be easier, with a guide booklet from the Pump Room a short walk away. A car helped get further into the beautiful nearby Goyt Valley. The apartment is spacious, comfortable, light, very clean, and nicely furnished, with some decorative touches connecting it with Buxton and the Peaks. The whole apartment was extremely well equipped with good quality essentials. Patrick was a delight to communicate with via Booking.com, friendly, very helpful, and prompt to answer questions, all his information was spot on. Car parking and Rail station are all a very short walk from the apartment, much nearer than I thought, which was great.

My partner and I snore, so we used the Sofa bed. There was plenty of bedding, which isn't always provided in places we've stayed before, it would be more comfy with a topper.

Perfectly located. The flat has everything you need for a short stay.

3 flights of stairs was a challenge but good exercise!

It was ok for me but it is up 3 flights of stairs. This may be a challenge for some people
