"Stunning location and stunning views."

10.0

We celebrated my dad’s 90th birthday, along with my dog. The location is perfect. My dad managed the climb up to the town and castle. We didn’t use the car once. We got the train into Harrogate. We were lucky with the weather, Knaresborough was beautiful. The property is very comfortable, especially the beds. Amazing views of the river. My dad got a bottle of Prosecco and a lovely note from the owners. We absolutely loved our stay. Two of my pictures are the view from the bedroom.

No garden for my dog. Not really dog friendly, no dog bed or treats. It would be nice to have a bench down by the riverside. The water pressure upstairs is very low and sometimes just a trickle. However these slight negatives would not stop me from returning and the River House is still a stunning place to visit.

"High quality property, excellent riverside location, with easy access to town centre facilities and all local attraction"

9.0

Immaculately presented, with very tasteful fixtures & fittings. The property has been equipped - and is clearly maintained - to a very high standard throughout. Beds, linen & towels were every bit as good as those to be found in a luxury hotel. Excellent, friendly communication and helpful information provided by property owner.

No major drawbacks. Water pressure from shower could perhaps be better. Parking space is rather ‘tight’ (though very close to property and secure)

"Excellent accommodation!"

10.0

Just perfect! Such a gorgeous home located on the River's edge located in its own private grounds with secure parking and access via an electric gate. Ideally located for exploring the beautiful Town of Knaresborough and surrounding areas! It was well equipped with all the comforts of home, tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean. Our host and owner Julie was always at the end of the phone should you encounter any issues. Me and my wife thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return again one day soon! Thanks Julie.

Not sure if the couple next door are owners or paying guests but their 2 dogs continuously barked on Sunday for an annoying 3 hours. It took the shine off our break from the disturbance. If you're a dog lover then you probably won't be too bothered.

"Winter stay in lovely warm, cosy riverside cottage with beautiful views"

10.0

Lovely, cosy, warm cottage right on the edge of the river and close to the town, with views from the rooms over the river. Lovely and warm at all times - surprisingly the radiators weren't often on. Immaculately clean house, beautifully decorated and fully equipped kitchen. Linen, towels, hairdryers all included. Gated courtyard entrance made you feel safe. Entrance using a keypad to open the gates and a switch inside. Specific parking space for the property which was OK to get into if reversed into making driving out much easier. Full and comprehensive instructions received before arrival including owners contact number. Very short walk to the railway station where trains are on the York/Leeds line running every 30 minutes. About 10 minutes walk from the town. Right opposite Old Mother Shipton's Caves and a very short walk to some lovely looking cafes which served all meals including breakfast. Nice looking pub right on the doorstep and one just across the road.

Difficult to get through the gates in the car when the house next to the gates had 2 large cars parked in front of one another, causing you tom have to make a very tight turn to get through the gates. I'm guessing it may have been a one off. Only one parking space, so if you bring 2 cars there isn't really anywhere to park the 2nd. Street parking isn't possible, and nearby car park doesn't allow overnight stay. Water pressure in the bath was slow so allow plenty of time to run a bath

"Fabulous cottage in a wonderful location."

10.0

We loved the location and the cottage. It was super clean and on our arrival, it was lovely and cosy warm (which is lovely, as some hosts do not put on the heating, prior to us arriving). It was great to have our own parking space and it was so nice to be able to see the river and boats from the windows. The location was so central - the steep walk to the town and the castle certainly gave us our cardiovascular exercise for the day, but it was worth it and we found a bit of an easier way via the grounds of St John's church. The cottage had everything we could possibly need - we ate in one night and we wanted for nothing (a pleasant change to have a gas hob too). Julie, the host kept in touch, which was lovely. The beds were so comfortable, as was the bedding. The lighting in the bedroom was great, a pleasant change.

Nothing major, but a full length mirror in each bedroom would have been great. The curtains in the spare room could be a bit thicker (my daughter kept waking really early). Sometimes the water pressure was poor for the bath/showers, but I would not let that put me off and despite these negative comments, please note that we would certainly stay again in a heartbeat.
