Cozy apartment in centre of Heraklion

Neat and comfortable

The location is simply perfect: nearby, there are several restaurants and cafes available within walking distance, as well as supermarkets, mini markets (open until late) pharmacies, souveneir shops - everything you may need. It is only 10 minutes away from the Heraklion Airport and it costed 15€ with a taxi. The host was easy to reach and kind. We had to check in at night and it was very easy and smooth to find our keys in a keybox. Washing machine was in a good condition and supplies (like detergents) were available for us. Electrical stove as well as the oven were good, we prepared some breakfast for our kid and we also used the oven to bake some ready-to-bake frozen pastries.

To be honest, the overall experience was for sure not very bad but it was below our expectation. Although it is marked as the apartment has air conditioning, only the bedroom has one and there is no AC in the living room and the kitchen. Considering that the living room and the kitchen get direct sunlight in the morning until early afternoon, it was not possible for us to spend time in the living room or cook some food after 10am due to the room temperature. Even during the evening and night, the living room temperature was unbearable. It is definitely not possible to sleep on the couch in the living room - at least not during hot summer days. Besides, the AC in the bedroom was an old one and of course, it was not possible for the AC to condition the whole apartment. There were 2 fans in the apartment but without an air conditioner, fans can only blow the hot air existing in the room and can do nothing else. No sun blinds. Except the AC issue, after our check in, we realized that there is no dishwasher in the apartment - this is not marked in the advertisement and it was our fault to miss it before our reservation. Nevertheless, if you come to Crete and would like to use the kitchen for a lunch or dinner, you may not want to hand-wash all the dishes :) Thirdly, the bed was a bit uncomfortable. Although it says "1 extra large double bed" on the advertisement, it was simply 2 single beds brought next to each other. One of the beds was hard and the other was soft, both were old beds. In the end, since we had our 2-yr-old kid between us while sleeping, it was not comfortable through the night. Lastly, we didn't use it but the Greek coffee equipment was dirty and broken - I wanted to wash it with all the other dishes on our last evening but it was not possible to wash it due to the condition of the equipment (the electrical circuit inside was open from outside, water leakage was unavoidable).

The apartment is wonderful. Situated in the city centre, close to restaurants and bars, but in a quiet area. The host is very nice and helpful. Recommend to everyone!
