A private retreat Cotton Club Cottage

Host and family were very warm and made sure we were well attended to. Host’s mother even made us some chiffon cakes that were so great.

Lovely, quiet, cosy, clean, comfortable, private country home stay. Shinya, friendly & lovely host was there when we do check in & taking care everything for us. Next morning, he brought us his mom homemade delicious chiffon cake (made using rice flour - yummy) & premium drip coffee for our breakfast. Good location - Mt. Aso, Kamishikimi Kumanoimasu Shrine, Takachiho.

Wanted a quiet stay to explore Aso and have a place to cook. Located in a quiet cosy corner where you get a gorgeous view of the various peaks of the Aso, yet supermarket Fren is a short 10minutes drive to meet all cooking needs. Shinya san is a lovely host and does his utmost to accommodate our stay. The kitchen is well equipped. Rooms are clean and cosy and having only 2 rooms mean there is plenty of privacy - we were absolutely fortunate to have the whole place for ourselves. Bonus - offered his mum's delicious Chiffon cakes, but didn't manage to find space in the stomach for the chocolates.

The kitchen is a separate building from the rooms - pretty frosty hop across for meals if you are cooking in the colder months. Was very fortunate to be the only guests during the period, the kitchen will be tight for 2 cooks. The hop across the grass verge between the room and kitchen means keeping both sides clean was a challenge - a small concrete slab pathway will help improve access.

• The location is good, there are so many good Sakura spots nearby, and it’s also close to the ASO mountain. People can enjoy the great pure countryside and relax. • The room is a wooden cabin which is big and clean, the host just renew the laboratory and shower room. •There is a shared kitchen, people can buying stuff from a supermarket which is close and cook by yourself.

Such an amazing place with an excellent view of the mountain range. It's in a lovely quiet area that is still close to a lot of the main tourist areas if you are driving. Plenty of facilities that help you make it into a little home away from home and the host was so friendly and helpful. Would definitely be staying here again and bringing the family as it is big enough for many people to stay.

I stayed at Shin’s place in Oct. It started to get cold at night and early morning. The place was clean and comfortable. His mom shared with us very nice chiffon cakes she baked. The persimmons from his garden were very delicious. Thank you very much for your hospitality. They were several places to visit within an hour drive. We spent a good evening at the lunar observatory for the star gazing. Mt Aso is worth a visit. We walked along beautiful Takachiho trial. The overall stay and visit was amazing. We would love to come back again in the future.

I am very happy with our stay at Cotton Club Cottage. Check-in was easy with the automated setup and Cotton had sent some instructions through Booking.com. The cottage is nice and comfortable, with plenty of space. The Google Maps link with some recommendations around the area was helpful too. We dropped our used towels in the morning at the reception area and everyday there was a note and/or small gift left by Cotton. The chiffon cakes and fruits were very tasty. Enjoyed meeting Cotton on the day we were leaving. Location is excellent. A car is important to go around the Aso area anyway. Cotton Club Cottage was in the middle of everything we wanted to visit.
