The Carden Arms

Gorgeous location, so quaint and comfortable with lots of nooks and crannies and a wonderful atmosphere . Food was lovely and staff so friendly, bedroom well equipped with a great shower.

A little more on the menu for people who don’t eat beef please if possible. We were also a little irritated by a lady coming round advertising the farmers market while we were eating.

Nothing. It was all perfect.

A hidden gem of a place. Gorgeous little pub. Stylishly decorated with antiques and very comfortable. Friendly, helpful staff. Oh yes and absolutely delicious home-reared, grass fed beef on the menu!

Beer was good. Shower worked. Tea was good. Food was hearty, if reminiscent of fifty years ago.

Advert states that they won't take any money ahead of time. Poor lady in charge of bookings, reservations, dining room seemed out of her depth. She denied that someone from their email address had tried to take payment two days prior because they never do that sort of thing but my bank told me that they did and it was declined because I am always careful that that doesn't happen. Tried to blame that on booking.com who I know for a fact had not tried to take the money. I was asked to move off a table because locals would want it. I did so. There was no dinner reservation for me, despite my emails. Tried to get me to go into a little cubby hole onto a tiny table where they put the kids with puzzles. I would not. A table was made available in the dining room. I could hear every word if every conversation from the raucous, bar (and join in with their conversations) from my toilet and my bed and they didn't quit their Friday night tirade of shouting, laughing and swearing until 11:45 pm. Then my next door neighbours came into their room and I listened to their conversation for a bit which I tried to drown it out with a bit of music from my phone perched on my shoulder. Bed was poor. Slept upright on pillows. I arrived at 8 for the delicious Breakfast but they weren't ready for anyone and I had to wait half an hour before it came to my table by which time, oddly, it was mostly cold making me late for my 9am meeting.

Cooked breakfast on the weekend was delicious. Love the interior design of the inn. The bed was really comfy and once the heaters were on it was really warm in the room. Bathroom was great and with a modern shower.
