Porto Pool Spot

Very nice apartment in excellent location close to lots of cute cafes and restaurants.

The lift is very small and slow. We didn’t use it as we were too claustrophobic.

This apartment does have some good points. It’s light and airy, quite well equipped and is in a good location with lots of trendy bars and restaurants nearby. However because it is a popular location, the bars are really busy in August and it’s difficult to get seated. It is also at the top end of town so walking home involves hills. There is also a lot wrong with the apartment though. I get the impression that the whole block was renovated some years ago and has had very little maintenance since. The balcony is tired, shabby and dirty as is the area around the pool. The outdoor furniture is old, broken and dirty. The water is dangerously hot and the tap in the bathroom sink is too stiff to turn on and off easily. The shower head is too high to reach so it’s difficult to use. The kitchen tap is loose and floppy. The blinds are coming away from the surrounds in places. There is no separate bedroom and the apartment is actually a studio which I don’t think is made clear on booking.com. There are no tables to use near the sofa which makes it difficult to sit and watch TV with a drink or snacks. The dishwasher is difficult to understand and there is no instruction manual. We were only given 4 dishwasher tablets for a 7 night stay and had to request more. The lift is ridiculously slow but there are 59 steps up to apartment so walking up was not an option for us. There is a notice telling you where to take the rubbish but this is out of date and has not been changed. Obviously none of these things on their own are a major problem but they do show a lack of care by the hosts. The worst thing though was that the apartment was not clean and there is no excuse for that. We found a pair of somebody else’s socks in the bedroom drawers. There were food crumbs in the kitchen cupboards and fridge and the freezer compartment was so iced up it was difficult to put much in there. The hob was covered in dust and dried up food stains

We booked this apartment because of all the good reviews and because it had a swimming pool with sun beds. We were in Porto for 2 weeks in two different apartments so our plan was to sightsee in the first week and relax and sunbathe in the 2nd. I saw the photos on booking.com of sun beds around the pool and checked with Ana that they were available. This was in May and she said they were. When we arrived she said that the sun beds had broken during the winter and the management company had decided not to replace them so she obviously lied when she said they were available in May. As an alternative we were offered two tiny, uncomfortable beach chairs; one of which was torn and falling apart. We requested that Ana purchase some folding beach beds which we could keep in the apartment and carry down to the pool. She said she would but as the days went by they did not arrive and we only had excuses and poor communication from her. By the time we left a week later, the beds had not arrived and there was no real apology. I don’t believe she ever actually ordered them and would be interested to know if they are now there for future guests to use? We paid 540 euros MORE for this place than we had the previous week because we wanted the pool and in the end we could not use it. The apartment the previous week (Thomaz Palace) was sooooo much better and a lot cheaper. Cleaner, quieter, better equipped, serviced every other day and with free parking onsite. It is also in a good, if not better location. We were generally very disappointed with Porto Pool Spot and the service we received from Ana. We would definitely not go back!

Het was erg jammer dat er bij het zwembad geen ligstoelen waren. Hierdoor hebben we geen gebruik gemaakt van het zwembad

The lift didn't work for most of the time we were there, our apartment was on 3rd floor so getting luggage up and down was hard work. no shade around pool area, plenty of bases for umbrellas but no umbrellas or sun lounges...which is actually shown in pictures online so very deceptive bed was very hard and uncomfortable

Good central location close to historical downtown area. Top floor unit but building has a lift. Unit was clean and comfortable. Fully equipped kitchen. Would have gladly stayed longer.

The apartment was modern, very light and spacious and well equipped having everything you need for a city break. Particularly enjoyed the two small seating areas outside. Check in and out was made exceptionally easy, with Ana explaining everything that we needed to know. She also kept in contact with us during our stay, which was much appreciated. The building site near to the apartment (as mentioned by previous guests) is still in operation, but most of the main building work appears now to have been completed. As such noise is not a major issue, so don't be put off renting this amazing apartment. We would have no hesitation in returning, which we wil do in the not too distant future, as the apartment is situated close to restaurants and bars and offers easy walking to most of Porto's attractions. Over the years we have rented numerous apartments in cities throughout Europe and this is one of the best that we've stayed in. I'll guarantee that you'll enjoy the apartment!

Sadly the lift broke for the majority of our visit but Ana was really responsive and helpful. The view is that of a building site and will be for quite some time yet but we knew that was the case and as we were out sightseeing every day it wasn’t a problem. Pool looked lovely but weather was terrible so didn’t use it.

The apartment was lovely and well equipped. The location is great, a short walk to everything. The pool was lovely for a quick swim after a day exploring Porto. The host, Ana, was fantastic - very helpful,,flexible and easy to contact at all times, and the coded access system very easy. Nice balcony to relax on with some views of the city.

As other reviewers have said there is a lot of building work in the area of the apartments, but no noise after about 5.30 and didn't affect our enjoyment of the apartment at all.

This was such an incredible apartment! The host was very kind and great communication. The location was excellent, very close to many bars and restaurants. The apartment was beautiful, very clean, gorgeous and large balcony. Wonderful to have a swimming pool which was clean and surrounded by lime and orange trees, highly recommend!

Nothing was wrong - loved everything!
