Home Stay Ramli

The setting is very beautiful, the most gorgeous sunrise and sunsets, the beach is nice, and there are lots of hammocks and sunbeds to lounge around. Comfortable bed, even though the bathroom has no sink. Free water, tea, coffee. The staff there are very nice and polite, they arranged coconut water when i asked. Just fyi dinners are 75k per person, fried seafood with rice and side dishes, not fresh from the sea, but the portions are huge. Bring earplugs, the mosque sometimes calls out at 3am.

The transfers are very overpriced. 300k idr for return boat transfer, but it is a big boat that is shared with many other locals, only for a 15 minute ride. The shared car to airport is 350k one way, i didnt even get a proper seat. If you decide to come here, you are better off arranging your own transfers.

We had such a heavenly 4 nights stay in Ramli homestay. The double beds room is a bungalow on the beach, with a lovely balcony above the white sand and turquoise water. You just have to swim in front of your room to enjoy beautiful corals and coloured fishes. Electricity is on from 6pm to 7am, which enables you to have AC and fan during the night (and charge your devices). Bathroom is a bit old but it’s a detail compared to the beauty of the place. Also, food is very good: breakfast with a plate of fruit and eggs or pancakes (and unlimited coffee/tea). Diners are absolutely amazing, the best food we had during our time in Sulawesi (grilled fish, vegetables, rice). Irma is a very nice host. Also, she helps on your transportation/trip for going to the island and leave it.

The place is really clean and beautiful, unfortunately the rest of the island is not as clean as the Home Stay Ramli. since so many trash around.

The water in the bathroom is a bit yellow and salty. Other than that, everything is perfect.

The place is a little peace of paradise you might see in the movies. The homeowner was very kind and helpful, the breakfast was plenty and there was also a possibility to have dinner, which was indeed, superb! It was possible to borrow a snorkelling mask.

Not about the homestay itself, but the island - the beach at some parts is very dirty - unfortunately it seems like dirt from the sea floats to the island and much is covered in plastic waste. On the positive side - there are some cleaner spots, too, and sunsets are amazing.

The host Irma is the heart of the homestay. She arranged everything, helped whenever needed, also even upfront for transportation etc. The homestay is simple, but absolutely fine for being on a little island with almost no tourists. Electricity is usually available btw. 6 pm and 7 am, what was absolutely fine for us. Really good breakfast and dinner (dinner is extra, but can be absolutely recommended).

The view of the bungalow is stunning. You wake up in front of the clear water, snorkel equipments are provided so you can enjoy swimming in front of the place and discover all the fishes and corals. Home made food is amazing and Irma is one of the best host I ever had, thank you again !

The mattress is not the best

I have really appreciated the location. We could do snorkeling 🤿 right in front of the home stay - no need to rent a boat ! A big plus for our host Ramli which is so welcoming and helpful. You have the possibility to have a dinner at the home stay and I suggest you to try the fish. One of the best fish I ever tried. The breakfast was good too.

There was no light in the shower and no electricity during the day. I think it must be same in all the island so just make sure to have enough battery during the day if you need it. I think the price is a bit too high for the quality of the accommodations (mostly the bathroom that seems a bit old). Not related to the host / home stay but please note that there are not many things to do in this island and it can even be hard to find something to eat / drink during the day and mostly at night. However, I recommend you to stay at Ramli home stay for at least one night just to enjoy the snorckeling in front of the house and the yummy fish prepared by Ramli ! ;)

Super nice bungalows directly on the beach. Very friendly and helpful owner. She managed all perfect ( boat pick up from Bira and car pick up from Makassar). Very awesome place for snorkeling. We saw sharks, sepias and snakes.

This is a located in a beautiful corner of paradise. Friendly staff, great food, sunrise on the right side in the morning sunset on the left in the evening. Irma arranges everything perfectly. (from transport to diving)

Wounderful location on the beach, just a few steps from the water. Beautiful snorkling directly off beach. Irma is the most lovely and helpful host. Nice food. Good arrangements with boat transfer to the mainland.

I missed taking a proper shower due to the low water pressure. But you can live without a shower for a couple of days if you get to live in this charming little homestay.
