Casa Chaak Maya - Estudio privado con alberca en Mérida

Cute little place, nicely decorated and close to the center. Communication was great and friendly.

We stayed for 3 nights and on the morning of the last full day there was no water. We couldn't shower, wash or flush the toilet. The staff tried fixing it while we were out for the day. In the evening there was some water and the next morning nothing again. Quite impractical... The neighborhood is fine, I didn't feel unsafe at all but it was incredibly loud. Sleeping was nearly impossible as the neighbors left their dog outside barking the entire night. Basically non-stop, it was almost impressive. I had to use my earbuds AND play white noise through them to drown out the barking. The bed was uncomfortable for me, personally. As you cannot flush toilet paper down the toilet, it would be recommended that they add a trash can with a lid,.for hygiene and smell.

Casa Chaak Maya is a typical Mexican town house that has been renovated with nice decorative touches giving it an old authentic charme. The front room has a large king-size bed with a firm but comfortable mattress. The air conditioning was very effective; a quiet sleep mode was available.There was a fully equipped kitchen that allows you to prepare breakfast and to cook dinner. The kitchen has a gas stove; the gas needs to be manually switched on/off. The fridge is rather small if you stay more than 2-3 days. The small bathroom had a wash basin, toilet, and walk-in shower with good water pressure. The gargoyle style shower is ok but just not our personal preference. A hair dryer was provided. There is a small patio with a private pool. The pool was bigger than expected (approx. 2m x 1m). There was no drinking water provided, but there is a small shop just two houses down the street selling it.

When you enter the house from the street you directly step into the front room where you sleep. This room is not insulated regarding street noises. During the night the street is very quiet, however, in the early morning hours there can be considerable noise from motor bikes and cars. There was only a very small closet to store clothes but it contained an iron, additional blankets, and other items. As a consequence, we were not able to unpack properly during our 5 nights stay. There were not enough garbage bags and toilet rolls for our stay of 5 nights. It is not convenient to buy them at every location if you travel with buses around the country. The pool was not properly cleaned when we arrived as it is only cleaned once a week (not necessarily coinciding with the arrival of new guests). On request they sent somebody right away to take care of the issue. We did use the pool but we did not use the patio otherwise. We feel the patio area could be edited, e.g. remove the waste bin that is directly located next to the lounge chair (not visible in the pictures). There are a lot of mosquitos around the patio area, and unfortunately there are no screen doors to keep insects out.

Stilvoll eingerichtet mit Liebe zum Detail. Die gut ausgestattete Küche war super, dass nicht jede Mahlzeit auswärts sein muss. Die Kommunikation zum Host war top, nett schnell zuverlässig. Unkomplizierter Check in. Authentische Gegend. Möglichkeit mal in der Sonne zu entspannen.

Mini Manko für uns, dass das Bett für uns persönlich nicht so komfortabel war (bissl hart) aber echt nur Mini Manko

Het huisje ligt in een verpauperde buurt. Het verkeert zelf ook niet meer in goede staat. Wij hadden een boeking voor zes nachten, maar we zijn na drie nachten verhuisd naar een hotel. Er is geen comfortabel meubilair. De douche is een dunne straal uit de muur, geen douchekop. WC-papier mag niet in de wc maar moet in een ton op het terras. Geen drinkwater. Twee dunne handdoeken voor zes dagen. Kakkerlakken. Kortom: het voelde vies en armoedig. Geschikt voor 1 of 2 nachten, niet langer. De prijs was vrij laag,de kwaliteit ook.
