Island Lake Villa and Bungalow

The hosts were very friendly accommodating - I made a mistake with the dates - they were great in assisting. Amazing view.

We visited this Island lake villa and bungalow for our honeymoon and from the moment we arrived the view overlooking the Island lake took our breath away. The accommodation itself was beautiful and equipped with everything you could need for a week's vacation. The kitchen had everything for a self-catering place, the bed was well sized and very comfy and there was a well sized TV room for all the relaxing, and the shower had great hot water too to prepare for an exciting day. There were a lot of areas outside to relax and enjoy the view, a tucked away splash pool to relax in, also a larger sparkly blue pool to cool off on a hot day, and a beautiful veranda seating area to enjoy breakfast or dinner while getting lost in a sunrise or sunset overlooking the island lake. The weather in the Wilderness is amazing in February, even on the rainy days there was always a warm breeze.aw2 A big highlight from our trip was that we had a great host- Gordon, who was always kind and has a well of knowledge for activities, hidden gems and eateries in and around the area, always keeping us informed but never intrusive. Always going out of his way to help, which we appreciated so much. He also let us use his kayak free of charge for a little adventure in the lake. The Island lake villa and bungalow is a hidden gem, and we would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great adventure or even just a place to relax and enjoy the view.

Our only regret is that we didn't book a longer stay, even though we were there for seven days.

From the moment we arrived at Island Lake Villa and Bungalow, we were embraced by a warm and inviting atmosphere that truly felt like a home away from home. Gordon and Anthula Thompson, the amiable hosts, opened their stunning property to us with genuine hospitality that made our stay remarkably memorable. The villa itself is perched overlooking a magnificent lake, offering a breathtaking view that I will cherish for years to come. We were fortunate enough to spot majestic fish eagles soaring above, and elegant yachts gliding across the shimmering waters, adding to the enchanting scenery that's nothing short of a living postcard. Gordon and Anthula were not only exceptional hosts but also delightful storytellers. They generously shared captivating tales of how they met and the fascinating journey of how their beautiful property was developed over the years. Their stories added a personal touch that enriched our stay considerably. Remarkably, we were among their first guests since the property's development, yet we would never have known. Everything was meticulously prepared, from the immaculate presentation of the villa to the comprehensive list of activities, contact numbers, and menus for local restaurants, ensuring that our every need was catered for. I cannot recommend Island Lake Villa and Bungalow enough for anyone seeking a serene and rejuvenating escape.

Absolutely stunning area with breathtaking views over the lake. Gordon and Anthula were incredibly hospitable and did everything they could to make sure our stay was comfortable. The kitchen was very spacious and well equipped and the outdoor braai area was lovely. A dog friendly place in Wilderness is hard to come by, so this was a huge plus for us🐕

The lake was not as close as the booking would make it seem, they are actually on a cliff overlooking the lake. Not a problem just confusion on our end. Also a couple of minor teething issues that come with a newly renovated property
