Camp Desert Sky

If you are looking for tranquility, the opportunity to experience family life in the desert, incredibly delicious food and a host who is keen to make your stay a personalized experience, then Camp Familia is the perfect place for you. It's located in a secluded desert paradise, about a 30-minute walk from the sand dunes, you'll always be able to see. The small Berber shops are cozy and clean, and the beds are very comfortable. Bathrooms are also ideal for camping in the desert. After dinner, you can enjoy music around the campfire and, stargazing, you won't want to return to your tent. Silence is palpable. In the morning, you'll witness a magical sunrise over the vastness of the desert before Brahim serves you one of the best breakfasts we tried in our three weeks in Morocco. The return camel ride, organized by Brahim,was the golden pin for an unforgettable little adventure in the desert.

The owner is extremely friendly and welcoming. Very responsive and accommodating. He takes real interest in the well-being of his guests. The camp is authentic with real tents on the sand (well, rock from which the sand was wiped off for the tenant's comfort). The area is reasonably dark for a good view of the stars (unless sand and dust cloud the sky).

Some of the good things come with attached discomforts. Can't have an authentic Sahara experience with running water and indoor plumbing for example, but this camp has a place (sort of shower with no shower) where one can clean themselves with some effort using a pouring dish. The camp is also not as I gathered from the map in the middle of the erg, but far from the dunes. One needs to travel by 4x4 to and from the dunes and the host is eager to provide the transportation for a reasonable price.
