Beautiful hotel, gorgeous room and stunning views from the restaurant. The homemade ginger nut biscuits in the room were a delicious surprise and having Trellis cafe right next door is an added bonus. We'll worth a visit as their cakes and toasties are fantastic.

Friendly staff and excellent breakfast! Would highly recommend and hope to return in the future.

Only difficulty was not being able to get ITVX on the app-based tv to play the England game. Wi-Fi worked well though so connected via my iPad

We couldn’t work the telly not that it mattered as we didn’t stop in room to watch it but a simple tv with ordinary channels would have enough

Booked last minute, the hotel has been upgraded to an excellent standard and our evening meal and breakfast were excellent. Worth going to see the seals on the beach which is close by and the hotel provides a map with some local walks.

Udny Arms was positively reviewed by many other travellers, and finding myself needing a room for the night and already in Newburgh, it seemed wise to listen to them, and in fact I was very happy with everything they did for me on a stay for just one night before moving on up the coast next day. Everything was very well done in terms of making a comfortable room, particularly a very restful and comfortable bed, important in any hotel, and the hotel's restaurant did a fine dinner just exactly as one would want at the end of the day. I learned from the manager that one of the puddings on the dessert menu was actually invented there and spread out to the rest of the country later. Be that as it may, I had the temerity to ask for the alternative of Scottish cheese and biscuits, and was very pleased with it. They had some very nice port to have with it! It's to be noted that this meal was in the nouvelle cuisine style. In this instance I had simply spent the previous night in Aberdeen itself and then done some shopping after checking out of the hotel there, arriving in Newburgh at lunchtime and finding something to eat there. Seeing that this hotel was recommended by many made it interesting; and I was impressed on arrival with how well they had refurbished and then reopened the hotel some years ago. It had had a great reputation years ago but then been closed for a few years, as it seems. My knowledge of the mysteries of the Hebridean seaweed that is the basis for the complimentary toiletries is minimal, but this did seem on trying it to be a very nice formula for the hand wash and shampoo, all provided with the very pleasing fixtures and fittings of the room itself. It is hard to see how anybody could be anything less than well impressed!

People will have to decide if Newburgh as such is the best place for their touring base in the area, although the beach is interesting for the seals who notably gather there at a certain point in the year. However, they cannot be commanded to appear to order, and at other times, such as during my visit, they were not there! This could be a source of concern to the people interested in them. But this is a minor matter so far as I would be concerned as clearly this is still a very well protected environment for natural events, and not required to perform for me on chance arrival!

Excellent breakfast with very good gluten free options. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Good value stay.

Our room was fairly small at the top of the hotel- next time we would be sure to book one of the larger bedrooms.
