Lacoste By Yala Forest Bungalow

Le personnel sur place était attentif à nos besoins. Gentils et excellents cuisiniers ! Ils ont rendu notre séjour agréable... Et c'était pas gagné ! Safari géré par le propriétaire. C'était agréable. Bien placé. À quelques minutes de l'entrée pour le safari. Cadre sauvage et naturel.

La chambre ne correspond pas aux photos. Elle mériterait une rénovation. Le lit était inconfortable (on sentait les lattes). Le propriétaire était absent ce qui a complexifié les échanges avec le personnel sur place qui ne parlait pas anglais (merci google translate). Le rapport qualité/prix est médiocre. Pour une chambre à ce prix là (sans petit déjeuner) c'est incroyable à quel point elle est vétuste.

This was an absolute gem! Amazing location just a 5mins drive from the park gate. Delicious food at reasonable prices, wonderful staff. Spotlessly clean environment. A true hidden gem:) perfect for wildlife spotting and especially for birdwatching! Highly recommend:) one of the best places we stayed at in 3 weeks in Sri Lanka:)

De locatie en het uitzicht was heel mooi. Het personeel dat op locatie aanwezig was, was vriendelijk en deed goed hun best. De eigenaar was niet op de locatie aanwezig. De wandelsafari die bij de prijs was inbegrepen was ook fijn.

De voorzieningen waren erg gedateerd en het zag er niet zo uit als op de booking.com foto’s. Het bed leek net een plank. Dat de voorzieningen gedateerd zijn oké, maar dat past zeker niet bij een prijs van 50 euro per nacht voor 1 kamer. Het gedrag van de eigenaar was teleurstellend, aangezien hij zonder voorafgaand een prijs te noemen probeerde om 40 euro te rekenen voor dinner en een klein ontbijt voor 2 personen. Dat is absoluut geen normale prijs voor dinner in Sri Lanka. In andere hotels hebben wij ongeveer 12 euro voor 2 personen betaald. Nadat ik zei dat dit geen normale prijs was, werd de prijs meteen aangepast naar 20 euro. De prijs is uiteindelijk aangepast, maar de eigenaar komt zo niet eerlijk over tegenover toeristen. Als wij niets gezegd hadden dan hadden wij 40 euro betaald voor 1 dinner en een klein ontbijt.

What I loved most about my stay at Lacoste by Yala was the authentic connection to nature and the incredible dining experience. Waking up to the sight of elephants and big tuskers, including grazing by the lake in the morning and evening, was magical, and watching leopards and other wildlife was a rare thrill. Being close to the park’s entrance made it easy to join organised tours that offered up-close encounters with Yala’s stunning wildlife, guided by knowledgeable trackers. The dining was equally memorable. Lacoste by Yala served authentic Sri Lankan dishes, fresh tropical fruits, and the famous local curd, adding a delicious and cultural touch to each meal. The flavours were incredible, making each dining experience something to look forward to. Altogether, Lacoste by Yala perfectly blended natural beauty with authentic local flavours, creating an unforgettable escape.

Staying at Lacoste by Yala truly allowed us to experience nature in the most authentic way possible. Being in an older bungalow, carefully maintained under park regulations, felt like a genuine immersion into the wilderness. The team’s approach lets the natural beauty and wildlife shine without overwhelming us with too many modern touches. It was an experience that felt raw and real, watching elephants by the lake, spotting leopards, and being surrounded by the natural sights and sounds of Yala. It’s a place where you can experience nature as it is, beautifully untouched and wonderfully preserved.
