Puri Taman Sari Resort

The property itself was absolutely beautiful in the grounds of a temple overlooking rice fields. It’s a huge property with two pools, lots of areas to sit and read and work. Really idyllic, relaxing location to enjoy some peace away from the city and the staff were so lovely, helping us book bicycles, transport, providing us with refreshments and always smiling.

Surprisingly, unlike the almost perfect property and service, my boyfriend and I both agreed that the food we ate was unfortunately some of the worst we’ve had in Indonesia, which does not match up to its resort setting. It was just very very bland and as the hotel is in a village it’s really difficult to find other places to eat within walking distance. I would also say that Yoga is advertised on the website but you have to book that in advance and was not available when we were there. We also booked two massages and although they were nice, and again the ladies were lovely, there wasn’t enough pressure and it was done in our bedroom on the bed, which made it painful on the neck after an hour. They also only offer the Balinese massage, there aren’t options which you would usually expect to find at a spa resort. All this being said we did have a great time, it was a beautiful place and close to some beautiful temples but the things that I mentioned let it down somewhat.

We arrived to find ourselves the only guests for a couple of days, while the village who runs the homestay type of accomdation set up and decorated for a large group of European tourists. Large bedroom, outdoor shower area. The infinity pool over the rice patties was interesting to watch the birds and farmers at work. Food on menu is geared towards Europeans, with little chilli added, which was a surprise after several weeks of travelling here. I appreciated being able to pay for the meals with credit card, and activities by cash. We asked the property to arrange a local driver to transport us to the airport (1.5 hours away), and we were supplied with a safe and considerate driver who delivered on time. Service was authentic considering the village / homestay atmosphere. Occasionally checking in on those by the pool would result in a higher purchase of drinks. Activities included rice field/village tour, massage, cycling and visits to the local UNESCO temple. Valued the quiet atmosphere within 1.5 hours of Denpasar airport.

Activity descriptions and prices might be listed on a pamplet for guests to consider. Verbally hearing of the options upon arrival was difficult to make a selection. A map of the surrounding area for guests to explore the village would be useful. Repairing or replacing the three sun lounges which are unusable at the moment would be appreciated, as would providing umbrellas or shaded lounging areas. Clearing the slippery moss around the pool area would be good as well. Would appreciate lighting of mozzie coils around the room each evening, as well as a tv for raining evenings.

We stayed one night in Puri Taman Sari. We booked 2 deluxe room and 1 Bamboo house. . Puri Taman is a little paradise far away of the crowd. It is perfect for a short stay. We used their organized transport from Denpasar airport and It is highly recommended.

The Bamboo house - it smells a little bit of mold, but that is normal, it is rainy season. Breakfast could be improve.

Le temple est beau, la décoration extérieure est magnifique. Personnel attentionné, bon petit déjeuner.

La chambre dans le temple n°06 est très sombre, pas assez de lumière, elle donne directement sur l allée du temple donc très peu d' intimité. La salle de bain extérieure est inutilisable en saison des pluies car tout est trempé en permanence.

Le calme, la propreté du lieu, la gentillesse du personnel, leur disponibilité. Un grand merci à Donny et tous le personnel pour avoir rendu magnifique notre premier séjour à Bali. Nous reviendrons très vite!
