The First Porta Soprana Prione

The location of Cosy Prione is excellent - within easy walking distance of both the old and new town and the port, with several great places to eat and drink nearby. The host is very responsive, polite and helpful and the property is extremely clean and very spacious (far more spacious than expected). The air conditioning is also great. It was very powerful and kept us cool even in 33 degree celsius heat - making the apartment a blissful place to return after a day exploring Genoa in the heart of summer in Italy.

There is no parking at or near the Cosy Prione (despite private paid parking being advertised initially). There is public street and paid parking within a 5 minute walk but the route is quite steep making access to and from the property with children and bags, particularly in the heat quite difficult. The property is close to a train station and, although the station cannot be seen, the trains can be heard rumbling nearby and quite regularly. It was not so loud as to disturb us too much (it didn’t wake us, for example) but if you are noise sensitive, this might be an issue. The front bedroom is extremely light, with very pale curtains which, although lovely and airy, block very little light. If you have children (as we do) this is likely to be a problem and lead to extremely early mornings for everyone. The rear bedroom is very dark (so great for children/those who like it to be very dark at night). Finally, the kitchen amenities were really quite limited - not too much of an issue if you plan to do very little cooking but again, if you are staying with children and plan to eat in in the evenings, this is likely to be an issue is making anything more than basic salad/pasta etc.
