"Big disappointment"

1.0

I liked the location

I didn t like soooo many things there was no one to handover keys It was soooooo dirty Every corner was full of cobwebs creepy crawlies There wasn t any reception so you can t cotact the house owner as wit me as soon i entered the house eletricity was gone I had to leave my husband with kids and drove away from the property to contact home owner to find out whats the problem and in the start she was quite rude and blamed me to do something wrong and did something with the electricity within my five minutes of entering her property She told me to go somewhere out and kill the time and by the time i will be back everything will be normal There wasn t backup plan for such a problem no heating no access to cooking Toilet flush was broken Water was so hot had kids with me specially 5 years old and had to keep an eye on him Every window was full of dust and dead flies Like nobody lived in that property for long or they don t bother to clean We stayed hungry and cold for long hours untill electricity came back It was never mentioned in property description that bring torch or something i ve been to other properties in lake district before they ve got generator to back up electricity loss Lots of places were damaged and nails were comein out my daughter got pricked Very low ceiling i am only 5 feet tall and had banged my head several places never ming my hisband and my kids so many times I wanted to leave the property straightaway but wasn t sure if getting my refund or not But overall it was a big disappointment Never again that property and private home owners In the discription it says there is access to terrace but i didn t find anything like that Garden furniture was missing from the reallity too in pictures it shows all the furniture In photoes you can see the nail on top of door handle and my daughter s finger got picked from that Creepy crawly on the carpet I ve got videos too can supply on demand

"Nice little cottage, but very remote and no water filtration system; so be prepared for brown water!"

6.0

The kitchen is new and very well equipped with everything you need for a self catering stay. There is a wood burner, which is nice and cozy on the evenings - but you do need to provide your own wood etc.

It’s a very remote property (even more remote than we’d realised) fine if you’re just in the area hiking, but don’t expect anything around you in terms of village, shops or local amenities if you do book this cottage. The biggest issue for us was that the Water in the property runs brown as there is no filtration system! Not suitable for drinking and in all honesty it didn’t feel good to clean in either! This isn’t mentioned until after you book and pay, and in all honesty had we known this in advance - we would have found somewhere else as we didn’t use the bath or feel comfortable cleaning in this water! There are disclaimer signs in the property, but once again - this isn’t mentioned prior to payment/booking, which was disappointing as it did affect our stay!

Lovely location and property. Always looking for somewhere out of the way so brown water wasn't a surprise :) Plenty of bottled water supplied. Was clean apart from cobwebs, which was spiders fault, not hosts. At least the spiders kept flys away :)

Only small issues such as a loose tap in the bathroom and could do with a booster for the Internet for the living room. WiFi signal was fine throughout the rest of the property :)

"Cute place, but lacking basics making for an uncomfortable stay"

5.0

Location was fab and the beds were all super comfortable! There were some nice views from the upper bedrooms. The central heating works really well considering it is an old farmhouse. The amount of animals around was lovely! There was a chest freezer, which we plugged in to use, this got to temperature quickly. Host was very responsive via text message whenever we had questions.

No blinds in some of the windows in the bedrooms, making it hard to sleep for anyone who likes to sleep in darkness Water from the tap is not safe to drink, which we were not aware of before we arrived. Host did provide us with 10L, but that didn't last long. The water that came out of the taps and showers was brown and cold, making it very unpleasant to wash with. We would get lukewarm water from the shower but only for 1 minute, then back to cold unfortunately. Wifi did not reach many places in the house, including 2 bedrooms and the living room(most of the time). This meant the TV would not work using wifi for apps like netflix, but also it wouldnt connect to regular TV channels. Although this didn't affect us too much as we were out everyday during the day. There was a fridge provided, but this was incredibly small, not nearly big enough for a 6 person house for more than one day. There were no towels provided, which wasn't clear from the listing. Luckily I saw the same location on Airbnb which stated that there were no towels provided, a few days in advance which allowed us to pack towels.

Loved the location; the barn was a great size and having a washing machine was very helpful.

Only down side was there been no wood for the log burner.

"Very good"

The location was brilliant. Proper country life with cows in the barn and sheeps in the fields. Cosy old style house outside and rooms inside clean and tidy.

The fridge is a bit to small for 6 people. But all in good working condition.

"Nice house in a beautiful location but lacked amenities and an unhelpful host"

3.0

Very nice old house with lots of privacy in a beautiful area.

Tap water was contaminated so had to buy water from the supermarket (only 8 litres was provided — not nearly enough for the stay). No towels provided, host says it is "clearly stated in the itinerary" which was never shared with us. Any time we contacted the host we were referred to this non-existent itinerary. The code for the lockbox was not mentioned in the check in instructions. No salt/pepper/tea/coffee/cooking oil/dishwasher tablets. The hot water is either boiling or freezing. It is an old house so has its quirks, many ceilings are less than 6ft in height so not suitable for tall people.
