DELess than 10 minutes to the Jetty. Nice café across the street, also good indian restaurant just down the street.
As almost everyone else, we ended up in Mersing because the departure times of the ferry to Pulau Tioman and the arrival time of the first (!!) bus from Kuala Lumpur are not synchronized and you will always miss the ferry. That is why we had to spend a night, we basically had no choice. I guess it's all part of a bigger plan by the government, because otherwise NO ONE would ever spend a minute in this god forsaken town. We ended up in a tiny room with NO WINDOWS, directly next to the reception area. The staff began to watch videos on their phones around 4 AM. We were soooo happy when we could finally leave this place and this miserable town.

Very poor sound proof. I can literally hear the reception’s staff playing YouTube so clearly midnight. There’s also hair and stains on the bed.
